15th March 2022: Treguard and Paul Sinha's TV Showdown

Thank you to Knightmare.com Forum member Canadanne for this news:

'There was a Knightmare question in the final round of Paul Sinha's TV Showdown on Saturday [12 March]! ... I'm pleased to report that Jon Richardson got it right.'

The question was: "Which retro game show had the character Treguard the Dungeon Master?"

It's at 28.49 in Series 2 Episode 4 which is available on the ITV Hub here.

10th April 2022: Lego Knightmare with Paul Valentine

20th June 2022: Michael Spicer: life force memories

We should have learned by now to expect the unexpected online. But somehow we didn't foresee a viral video in which four versions of the same man discuss Knightmare's original life force clock and his traumatic memories of it.

As well as YouTube, Michael Spicer's video has proved popular on Twitter and TikTok, reminding many people about Knightmare and introducing others to it.

The video, simply titled Knightmare, follows a 2016 tweet by Michael in which he said: 'In the kids' show Knightmare, the countdown clock was an image of flesh falling away from a knight's face and all of us were okay with that.'

Our apologies and thanks, Michael! Dare we hope that your 'The Room Next Door' sketches are a positive sign of Knightmare's influence?

9th July 2022: Belfast Telegraph Hugo Myatt interview

Today's Belfast Telegraph has an interview with Hugo Myatt. As you might guess, he talks about being Treguard on Knightmare.

"If they picked the wrong clue I knew that three scenes later they were doomed"

"We knew it was cutting edge at the time, but we didn't expect it to be repeated."

The interview by Áine Toner is online here, though is behind a paywall. (Which is like a wall monster but less vocal and more capitalist.)

15th October 2022: Knightmare theme on Times Radio

The Knightmare theme was played on Hugo Rifkind's Times Radio show today (Saturday 15th October 2022).

"This is of course our weekly TV review which starts as ever with a classic theme tune ... no, I don't recognise it. I should, I know I should, I always know I should, that doesn't mean I do. I don't know ... I'm feeling quite spaceshippy but I really can't go much further than that"

After giving listeners time to guess, Hugo revealed the answer:

"It is Knightmare ... If I remember correctly, it was a sort of ... children's ... computer game type programme ... people stepped into a ... real-life computer game"

Hugo named Patrick Smyth as the only listener who messaged with the right answer. The dungeon salutes you, Patrick!

You can hear the Knightmare theme by catching up with this episode of Hugo's show on via times.radio for a week after broadcast. It's at 01:37 and 01:51 and 0:154.

11th November 2022: Hugo Myatt: Bravery and Greed trailers

Bravery and Greed, Team 17's dungeon beat-'em-up for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, has trailers voiced by the Dungeon Master himself, Hugo Myatt!

You can watch the trailers on Bravery and Greed's YouTube and other social media channels, via braveryandgreed.com.

25th November 2022: Treguard in Basil Brush's Xmas video

In the video for Boom! Boom! It's Christmas Again, hand-assisted fox Basil Brush sings his way between a host of children's TV favourites, including Mr. Blobby, Hacker T. Dog, George, Zippy, Bungle... and the ever-welcome Hugo Myatt as Treguard.

Good old 2022. Making itself less objectionable by pretending to be 1992.

All this is for a good cause. Make that two good causes: Save The Children and Shooting Star Children's Hospices. So if you'd like to support these children's charities, iTunes awaits.

This isn't Hugo Myatt's first charity video. In 2020 he appeared in Smells like Steak Fillet to raise money for FareShare Sussex.

26th November 2022: Hugo Myatt at EM-Con Nottingham 2023

Hugo Myatt, Treguard himself, will be among the guests at EM-Con at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on 10-11 June 2023.

Find out more and buy tickets at https://nottingham.em-con.co.uk/.
