Bumptious, the Dwarf

By Keith McDonald

Bumptious the dwarf was found in the mines in Level 2. He was fond of his rule book, and often held an enquiry into how a dungeoneer entered the mines.

Bumptious was a self-important dwarf with a northern accent. He spent his time digging for gold in the mines of Level 2.

Bumptious was officious and liked everything to be run by the book.

When dungeoneers entered the mine, they were subjected to the official procedures of his guild – the Honourable Guild of Goldminers.

Against the rules of the guild, that is. Course it is.

Northern generosity

Once this was over, Bumptious was quite encouraging and generous. He awards one team a spell despite them answering just one of his three questions correctly.

He hires one dungeoneer as an apprentice to blow a hole in the wall, which served as the only exit from the chamber.

Bumptious's last appearance came when the final dungeoneer of the series lands in the mine from the Level 1 wellway and causes an explosion.

Gretel runs in to assist and they hold an enquiry to clear the dungeoneer's name.
