The second quest begins with four doors guarded by portcullises. A collection of letters appear on the floor.

Knightmare Series 1 Team 2. Maeve collects the letters to spell SESAME.

Maeve must collect 'SESAME' in the correct order.

The very first episode of Knightmare ends as the dungeoneer leaves the room.

The team escapes a bomb room but encounters a snake in the following chamber.

Knightmare Series 1 Team 2. A bomb room in Level 1.

The team panics and almost guides Maeve straight into its path.

The team reach the Level 1 clue room, which is guarded by a wall monster.

Knightmare Series 1 Team 2. Maeve in the Level 1 clue room.

The team chooses just one object - a block of soap - leaving behind a comb and and a bar of gold.

Treguard: "Hurry team! For when Granitas sleeps, Olgarth awakens..."

Maeve arrives at Lillith's chamber. She is looking unkempt.

Knightmare Series 1 Team 2. Lillith complains about the state of her hair.

She wants to do her hair, but all the team can offer is a block of soap.

Lillith: "A block of soap!? Kindly explain how I am to comb my hair with that!"

Lillith: "Dragon's breath! I lose all patience with you! I shall just have to throw you out.

I have no time for those who fumble, so boulders CRACK and that ledge CRUMBLE!

Knightmare Series 1 Team 2. The team perish in Lillith's chamber.

Lillith: "Nice of you to drop in!"

Treguard: "What a shame you didn't take the comb when it was so obviously needed."

One of the shortest quests in Knightmare.

Transitions between episodes

The first episode ends during this quest.

We witness the first 'temporal disruption', which is the pause of gameplay until the following episode.

Warning, team, complete temporal disruption approaching. Time is now the enemy. Although all continues in your world, here time has flown. All adventuring must cease until you phase with us once more.

The fire behind Treguard now stops burning.

Treguard: "Will our dungeoneer come to a sticky end? And if so, why should you care? For here, nothing is real, and everything surely is an illusion."

Subsequent episodes began with a recap of the previous episode. This was known as a 'Progress Report'.

Anglia Television logos

The Anglia Production logo shown at the end of episodes during the first series in 1987.

Both the original episodes broadcast on ITV in 1987 and the repeats on Challenge TV showed this original Anglia production logo.

Repeated episodes on the Sci-Fi Channel showed a newer Anglia production logo at the end, which must have been adjusted for those broadcasts.
