Cursed

In the vein of the Flying Dutchman, Nemanor reveals that he and his ship are both under a curse.

One dungeoneer assists him by retrieving an astrolabe, which measures the height of heavenly bodies. Nemanor repays this with a spell that delivers the dungeoneer to the last dungeon.

This ship is cursed never to find land, and I am cursed never to leave it.

Captain Nemanor

Prior to this, he is a tormented character and even Lord Fear treads carefully with him.

A treaty allows Fear to ask Nemanor whether there are dungeoneers on his ship. Nemanor says he will kill a dungeoneer rather than allow Fear's minions on board.

Lightning rod

The captain also keeps a lightning rod on board to dispel storms.

This is the only weapon that will bring down a red dragon that Lord Fear unleashes in the season finale.

Once Nemanor hears of Lord Fear's plan, he offers the rod to the final dungeoneer. Once back in the antechamber, the dragon is defeated.
