Series 5, Quest 8. Duncan trades with Julius Scaramonger.

Team 8: Duncan, Ian, Deborah and Richard from Windsor.


The eighth quest of Series 5 was for the Sword and lasted 20 minutes.

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. Duncan, the dungeoneer.

Level 1

Duncan begins his quest with a flight on Smirkenorff. It lands in Wolfenden.

You won't, of course, be able to control him - well, at least, not until you get a great deal more powerful...

Treguard

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. Smirkenorff flies Duncan towards a village.

The team find clues in a clearing. A scroll reads: 'First purchase the key. Then find the lock.'

Duncan takes a pouch of silver and a candle, leaving behind a dagger and a helmet.

Next, they encounter Julius Scaramonger at his stall.

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. Duncan meets Julius Scaramonger in Level 1.

Julius Scaramonger: "I ain't gonna tell you that I've got the bargain of a lifetime, but you're unlikely to find another one as long as you live."

The team negotiate to buy a key. He agrees to sell it for the silver.

Into an inn, where a waitress offers a spyglass.

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. Duncan finds a spyglass in a hut.

Spyglass: Lord Fear wants Scaramonger to commit to the Opposition. Scaramonger would rather remain neutral, so he can benefit from both sides.

Fear demands that he gets the key back from Duncan. He gives Scaramonger the password.

The next chamber is dark. Duncan uses the candle to light the way to the Level 1 blocker. The team uses the password from the spyglass to get past.

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. Duncan unlocks a chest in a courtyard.

Duncan unlocks a chest with the key. Elita has been locked inside by Skarkill. She offers a spell, SESAME.

The team proceed towards the gate tower. Duncan is harassed by Sylvester Hands, but the Gatekeeper intervenes.

Gatekeeper: "This is neutral ground, and no combat, magic or thievery is permitted here to either side."

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. The gatekeeper issues rules to Duncan before he approaches the gate.

The Gatekeeper allows Duncan to proceed and sends Hands away.

The SESAME spell opens the gate, revealing the Descender. A scroll reads: 'Seven down call halt.'


Death

The team call halt after passing the seventh level down rather than stopping at the seventh level.

Knightmare Series 5 Team 8. Duncan walks straight into a blade in the Corridor of Blades.

Duncan exits straight into the line of fire on the Corridor of Blades. No chance.

Where did they get to if they didn't make it to Level 2?

Wolfglade
