Team 9: Kelly, Keeley, Taryn and Rachael from Rochdale.
The ninth and final quest of Series 5 for the Sword was abandoned after 32 minutes.
Level 1
The Eye Shield takes Kelly through forestland until she reaches a clearing.
A scroll reads: 'Place Spyglass before Eyeshield and hold steady.' The team obeys.
Spyglass: Skarkill has a new hobgoblin. Lord Fear wants it to start earning its keep by intercepting the dungeoneer before the gate tower.
Fear says anyone recommended by Gwendoline the Greenwarden is allowed passage. He gives Skarkill the password for the blocker.
Kelly takes a candle and a pouch of silver, leaving behind a sword.
On a long carriageway, Kelly is approached by Sylvester Hands. He sells her a horn in exchange for silver.
In the Greenwood, Kelly blows the horn to chase away an assassin. It's a goblin horn.
Gwendoline the Greenwarden comes racing in. Kelly explains that she got the horn from Hands and was just protecting herself.
Gwendoline: "If you got it from Hands, he'll have gone to the nearest ale house to spend your money."
The Greenwarden joins Kelly to an outdoor tavern. Hands runs off.
The team ask for a token to pass the gatekeeper and earn a green arrow by answering a question correctly.
If I'm not mistaken, all of this is part of a plot by the Opposition, and the only way to beat Lord Fear is to move faster than he can think.
Kelly bypasses the blocker with the password from the spyglass.
The causeway is made up of tiles with questing pieces. The team use the path of defence to cross safely.
Sylvester Hands runs in to remonstrate with Kelly. The Greenwarden has fired an arrow through his hat!
Just in time, Sir Hugh de Wittless rides in. Hands uses his damaged hat to play the victim, but the team insist that he's lying.
Unable to decide, the hapless knight turns to an adage of his mother.
Sir Hugh: "She would have said, 'Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, if it smells good, let it go...'"
[To Hands] "Well, you smell absolutely dreadful!"
He rescues Kelly by capturing Hands and taking him away.
At the gate, Skarkill's new hobgoblin appears. The gatekeeper is appalled.
YOU abomination! You pollute the threshold! You offend. As you have come from the deepest depths, now to the deepest depths depart!
He fires a bolt from his staff and the goblin vanishes.
Kelly gives him the green arrow and is allowed passage to Smirkenorff.
The gatekeeper gives Kelly a landing command to call out when she sees a castle.
Level 2
Hordriss the Confuser is working in the grand hall.
He asks Kelly to restore his staff by holding it in Aesandre's fire.
Blue fire, you understand? The fire that freezes, rather than burns.
He affixes the staff across her shoulder so she can still carry two clue objects.
Into a large room, where Kelly finds clues on a table. A scroll reads: 'She wishes for my words.'
The team takes a bar of gold and a book, leaving behind a green gem and a glove.
Into a large blue chamber, where a blue fire burns in the corner. The team finds a spyglass on the floor.
Spyglass: Lord Fear's gift has enabled Aesandre to create a spell that will freeze the dungeon before the season closes and trap Kelly forever.
Please leave Mount Fear out of your plans. You might relish the cold. I do not!
A bitter wind begins to blow as Aesandre's spell begins.
