Team 8: Stuart, Neil, Greg and Neal from Leicester.
The eighth quest of Series 2 was for the Chalice and lasted 24 minutes.
Level 1
Stuart emerges into the Combat Chess board from the Wheel of Fortune. It takes some manoeuvring, but they eventually conquer the room after around four minutes.
Stuart emerges at the base of the Scarab Room, so only needs to bypass one line of fire.
The Level 1 clue room is guarded by Igneous (Score: 2).
Igneous: "She will not wear a man's glove."
Stuart takes a white glove and a key, leaving behind a gauntlet.
Into the Scorpion Chamber, but it's easy to negotiate.
They reach Lillith's Domain, but she is not there! Stuart uses a lever to summon the causeway and she storms in.
Lillith: "Treguard! I hold you responsible for this outrage. If it should ever happen again, I shall have words with you..."
She is angered, so Stuart offers her the white glove for passage.
The Corridor of Spears has a new peril - a huge swinging pendulum. (This was only used once.)
Stuart must run the width of the corridor to avoid a collision with the sphere.
Into a room with three doors, which is usually used for a card puzzle. The right-hand exit is locked. Stuart must unlock it whilst avoiding the automatum.
Treguard: "Beware the mindless threat of the mechanical warrior!"
Stuart is pursued through the wellway room. He climbs into the well before the automatum can strike with its ball and chain.
Level 2
A character in a monk's habit is waiting in the opening chamber. Treguard assumes it is Cedric, but gets caught in a trance as Mogdred reveals himself.
Forget them, Stuart. They cannot help you against the dark magic I command...
Mogdred gives Stuart a limitless POWER spell and declares himself the new master.
Treguard recovers once Mogdred departs and recommends the team consider carefully the use of their new gift.
Treguard: "You're obviously very lucky to survive. However, this is your adventure, and the use of gifts and spells is a matter of your choice."
The Level 2 clue room: Stuart takes a knife and a jar of honey (after the team hear it humming with the sound of bees). He leaves behind a divining rod.
Into the Combat Room, where Olaf determines he will rob Stuart and then hurt him. He takes the honey but gets attacked by the bees.
In the option room with four doors and no clue as to which way to go.
Death
Treguard: "Choices, choices. The trouble is - no clues at all, and no way of divining them. What a pity you didn't bring the divining rod instead of that silly dagger."
They end up in the same room until life force runs out.
Treguard: "You're out I'm afraid, boys. But at least you are off this dungeon roundabout."

In February 1999, dungeoneer Stuart signed the Guestbook:
Having been a contestant on Knightmare in 1988, I can honestly say that this is a great page.
In 2021, Stuart revealed on Twitter:
%%BLOCKQUOTE After spending 5mins going nowhere in [the Combat Chess] room, the producers stopped us, told us how the knight moves and let us start again. No excuses [for taking the dagger] but I was not aware of the weapon rule at the time ... None of us could remember being told this ... I never saw [the Adventurer's Code, which cautioned against picking up an enemy's weapon]. I was the one who received all correspondence and still have it all. We were asked to get there for [filming on] the Friday morning but I had tickets for Dolphins/49ers at Wembley that weekend. So they let us go on Monday. % Stuart Leatherland%%Stuart can be heard discussing his quest in Series 2 Episode 10 of Knightmare fan podcast Temporal Discussion in 2021.
