Series 6 Quest 2 - Level 1 - Hordriss summoned

Team 2: Sumayya, Ruminda, Karminy and Zalmina from London.


The second quest of Series 6 was for the Shield and lasted 36 minutes.

Level 1

The quest begins in the Hall of Choice. The team choose the Shield, and proceed to a dwarf tunnel.

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sumayya takes the path of the Shield in the Place of Choice.

I think the opposition are trying to tell us something... that even this close to Dunshelm, Lord Fear can still reach you.

Treguard

Sumayya bumps into Sidriss, who is fleeing from goblins. Sidriss can't remember which direction she was travelling!

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sumayya runs into Sidriss in a dwarf tunnels.

Sumayya flees with her to the Level 1 clue room. Before they can examine the objects, Sidriss picks up the spyglass.

Spyglass: Lord Fear is explaining his new, more ruthless approach with Sylvester Hands.

Lord Fear: "Get out there and kick helmet!"

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Lord Fear casts magic through his eyes.

He then spots Sidriss spying and casts a spell to freeze her.

Treguard: "With Sidriss taken hostage, Lord Fear could force Hordriss to help him. If that happens, you don't stand a ghost of a chance of getting to Level 3, or of recovering the Shield."

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sidriss is frozen holding the spyglass.

Clues: a bar of gold; a jar of salt; a horn. They choose the horn and the gold.

The team encounter Elita, who is organising a pentangle on the floor. Sumayya asks for help regarding Sidriss.

Elita: "You mean Hordriss's dizzy daughter? Well, I'm not surprised she's in a mess."

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sumayya watches Elita performing a ritual in a stone courtyard.

She recommends a summoning spell to contact Hordriss directly, and then gives Sumayya the code for the causeway.

They cross the causeway without too much trouble.

Sumayya meets Ah Wok in Wolfenden, He demonstrates the summoning spell in exchange for the gold.

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sumayya finds the Oriental trader Ah Wok in Wolfenden centre.

Ah Wok: "You got to turn a long way around the clock. And then you say Marefact, Marefact, Marefact."

The team proceed to a clearing, where they attempt the spell.

When it doesn't work, they realise that Ah Wok's accent could be misleading. They adjust the summons to 'Malefact', and Hordriss appears.

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. In a garden square, Sumayya summons a large apparition of Hordriss the Confuser.

Hordriss: "How dare you! No-one is permitted to summon Hordriss the Confuser against his wishes."

Sumayya quickly informs him about his daughter, earning a password and a hint in return.

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. A blocker breaks apart after Sumayya gives the password.

The team proceed past the blocker with the password and come to Smirkenorff.

Without any method of payment, they flatter him by insisting that green dragons are the finest. He agrees to fly her to Level 2.

Level 2

Sumayya emerges in a courtyard, where she finds the clues to Level 2.

The scroll reads: "Luck favours the amber gambler". The team select a 'Shield' drink and a firestone, leaving a bag of gold and witch-amber.

Beforehand we had all decided that we would take a gem along with something else (good for trading we thought). This made us overlook what the riddle on the scroll was indicating.

Sumayya

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Lord Fear gives orders to Skarkill during the Level 2 spyglass.

Spyglass: Lord Fear tells Skarkill not to pursue the dungeoneer through WitchHaven. The witches will be enough of a threat, he says.

He puts his hand into the pool and attempts to grab Sumayya.

Peggatty is guarding Witchhaven. Surayya drinks the Shield potion to defend herself.

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sumayya uses a shield potion to protect against Peggatty's fireballs.

She encounters Ridolfo. He asks for a song, so she sings a nursery rhyme.

Ridolfo: "With a bit of training and the right lights, you could make it big!"

My mind went completely blank! (I used to like Bryan Adams but I couldn't exactly sing one of his songs!)

Sumayya

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Ridolfo the troubadour is on the charm offensive with Sumayya.

He gives her the code for the causeway.

Sumayya attempts to bargain some information from Heggatty in the next room.

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Sumayya meets Heggatty the Witch.

However, Heggatty is not interested in the firestone. She wants the witch-amber from the clue room.

On they proceed, to the chapel.

Death

The Dreadnort enters. They did not get the password from Heggatty.

Dreadnort: "With no word, you have reached journey's end!"

Knightmare Series 6 Team 2. Life force collapses at the hands of the Dreadnort.

The life-force skeleton collapses. Nasty!

Treguard: "Well, it's easy to see where you went wrong. You were warned to be an amber gambler, but you chose the red stone and not the yellow."

In July 2004, dungeoneer Sumayya signed the Guestbook.

I was on Knightmare in 1992 as a dungeoneer. It was fab! Have great memories of the whole experience. Spent a week up in Norwich and my 'team' and I had so much fun. Treguard and Pickle were lovely.

Will also always remember the team in front of us. Pity it's not on anymore; we could do with more intelligent shows like this.

I have really fond memories of the whole experience (from the auditions to staying in Norwich for a week filming, etc. and having a load of FUN along the way) and they'll stay with me forever.
