Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon the dungeoneer.

Level 1

The ogre is feasting on bones in the Corridor of the Catacombs. The team guides Simon out before he joins the menu.

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon finds the ogre in the Corridor of the Catacombs,

Into a bomb room. A muddle between left and right means they only just escape the bomb before it explodes.

Treguard: "Whatever you do, don't stop to rest until you're out of the tunnel!"

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon exits a bomb room just as the fuse runs out.

The Level 1 clue room is guarded by Golgarach (score: 3). He warns the team to avoid the 'blood red stone', so they take a candle and a gauntlet instead.

Into a lair of Kaa. They scurry to the right-hand exit.

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. The ogre chases Simon into a valley.

The ogre has caught up with Simon by the time he reaches the Vale of Banburn (or to some ears, Vanburn). The team outpace it through the marshes.

Velda the wood elf is waiting at the clearing. Simon throws down the gauntlet to prove himself. She provides the 'first step'.

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Velda the Wood Elf attacks the ogre.

The ogre enters in pursuit. Velda shields Simon before ruthlessly dispatching it.

The next room is in total darkness, so Simon holds up the candle. He is on a cliff edge.

Another left/right blunder from Mark almost takes Simon over the edge!

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Mrs Grimwold sends the dungeoneer in the wrong direction.

Mrs Grimwold is in the wellway room. The team are quick to spot her trickery as she sends Simon towards Festus.

She repents by providing the 'second step' and allowing Simon to proceed down the well.

Level 2

Treguard: "A welcome that provides you with a plethora of choice."

A Crown symbol highlights the correct exit from the Spindizzy. The advisors time Simon's leap perfectly.

Simon lands in the Corridor of Spears, where he is chased by a haunting.

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon tackles the Corridor of Spears.

In the Level 2 clue room, Simon picks up a bracelet which turns him into a flashing star.

An amulet of invisibility. These things have been found before. They're both extremely useful and extremely difficult to use.

Treguard

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon turns into a star in the Level 2 clue room.

An apparition slowly appears in the wall (Hordriss the Confuser's first appearance).

Treguard: "Out, quickly! I think a presence is beginning to manifest itself and it's not a pleasant one."

The advisors struggle initially, as they cannot see Simon and forget that he is stood in front of the table.

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon remains a star in the Death Valley caves.

Two goblins are on guard in the stalactite caves. The bracelet keeps Simon out of harm's way until they pass.

The advisors believe there is a pathway leading into the distance...

Death

...and send Simon straight over the edge!

Knightmare Series 3 Team 3. Simon falls from the cliff top.

Treguard: "Just in case you didn't know, team - that wasn't a shooting star..."
