Greystagg, Queen of the Grey Sisters

By Keith McDonald

Greystagg was the Queen of the Witches and ruler of Witch Haven. She becomes a sworn enemy of Lord Fear after he destroys the witches' home.

Greystagg was Queen of the Grey Sisters and ruler of their domain known as Witch Haven.

She carried an air of majesty and was both elegant in movement and eloquent in speech.

Greystagg was also suspicious and impatient. Treguard describes her as 'notoriously difficult to deal with'.

If you seek an audience, come forward. My time is short and so is my patience.

Greystagg

The Witch Queen often provided useful information in exchange for witch amber or something of similar value. She was particularly knowledgeable about the use of magical items.

Any dungeoneer who encountered her had to show respect and deference.

Fall of the Witches

Though unaligned, Greystagg discusses an alliance with Lord Fear in Series 6. Lord Fear rules the Amber Forest, where the sisters collect their witch amber.

When Greystagg rejects this alliance, Lord Fear is hell-bent on retaliation.

Greystagg immediately closes off a causeway to secure her area. She also orders the witches to melt their jewellery as they can no longer harvest the Amber Forest.

By Series 7, Lord Fear's new technomagical environment has destroyed Witch Haven, except for Greystagg's antechamber.

Greystagg has a showdown with Lord Fear, where he dismisses it as 'the march of progress'.

She dedicates her few appearances to fighting his tyranny, which meant assisting dungeoneers across the Sewers of Goth or at the end of the dungeon.
