Team 5: Ben, Jonathan, Tim and Ben from Salisbury.
The fifth quest of Series 7 was for the Cup and lasted 33 minutes.
Lord Fear interrupts the introduction of the new team.
- Lord Fear: "The bigger they come, the harder they fall."
- Treguard: "Lord Fear... you will cease intrusive behaviour until game on."
- Lord Fear: "I merely wanted a sneak preview of my latest victim. See you later, goblin fodder!"
Ben looks amused. This one will be a contest, one suspects.
Level 1
Within seconds, a goblin horn sounds and Romahna the Dragon Warden swoops in. She helps Ben out of the dwarf tunnel.
They emerge in a clearing. She tells Ben he will need a firestone to reach Level 2. That means getting some 'hot' magic.
The clues they find are: a bar of gold, some skeleton keys, and a mop. The scroll reads: "Wipe away ignorance and unlock magic". They take the keys and the mop.
Sidriss is in a blue room with her cat, Bethsemane. She mistakes Ben for the cleaner, and suggests that they start mopping the floor by the table.
If this is a favourite place of Sidriss, it's almost bound to be packed with secrets - some of them magic, even!
As Ben starts mopping, he uncovers some letters on the floor. It's a hidden spell, INSIGHT.
A firestone is in the firebomb room. The INSIGHT spell helps Ben to retrieve it and move to safety, then to escape the room.
In a courtyard, they find Fidjit in the pillory. They have a key, but take a long time to decide whether to not to help him.
Once they realise they will receive no help if they don't let him out, they hand over the key.
Fidjit takes them into the gateway room and opens the door to Smirkenorff. The firestone is used as payment to get to Level 2.
Level 2
Brother Strange appears from the cave into the rift valley. He warns Ben that the mountain is riddled with trolls.
Brother Strange: "I would turn back now, while you still have the chance."
Into the undercroft cavern, where Ben finds clues and a spyglass.
The clues are: a key, some Darkness powder, and a glowlight. The scroll reads: "Create darkness to find light".
Spyglass: Lord Fear orders the Brollachan to capture the dungeoneer. Fear then asks Lissard how the quest can be delayed so he can get the beast into Level 2.
Lissard has scattered a vital spell throughout the level. He says the dungeoneer will be so preoccupied with collecting it that they will be captured.
Ben takes the key and the Darkness powder. A troll begins pursuit, so they flee along the cavern.
At the top of the undercroft, they find a chest. Ben opens it using the key and finds Marta locked inside. Sylvester Hands has captured her at the tavern and locked her away.
She tells Ben he needs to find the back door to reach Level 3. As the troll approaches, she hurriedly offers the combination to the Trial by Spikes.
They enter a room with two stools. Majida asks why there is no letter.
Treguard: "I don't know. But I do know we haven't shaken off that troll yet. So, there's not a lot of time to find out..."
They try sitting on each of the stools but nothing happens. Treguard warns that the troll is approaching, so they are forced to leave quickly.
Sylvester Hands is fishing on his first ever 'DayOrf'. He doesn't care that a dungeoneer has arrived.
However, the team can see part of a letter underneath the barrel he is sitting on, so Ben must persuade him to move.
After irritating him for a while, Ben tells him that the fish is in the barrel he is sitting on.
Hands storms off to get his magic rope, so Ben moves the barrel and uncovers the letter D.
Next is the Trial by Spikes.
Death
The troll that has been pursuing Ben throughout the level finally emerges, impeding the advisors' view.
They can only guess where to stop Ben along the final row, and that is in the line of fire.
Nasty...
A swift and merciful end, boys. For without using the Darkness powder, you could not complete the spell you needed to get to the end of Level 2.
