A bit odd, but...

Post by Emii »

Little boys and cameras are never a good mix, as they like to show off. Perhaps kids were better behaved back then, but how many time do you think they had to make edits or Treguard had to keep a straight face because one of the little lads had let one rip and the rest were in a fit of giggles?

Heh heh. Very few fans will admit it, but I think we've all wanted to know that for years.

I doubt that they called cut too often. If the boys were like the rest of us, they'd let 'em rip on the quiet, so the director probably never realised there was a reason to stop. I'm sure Hugo was keeping a straight face quite a lot.

The whole experience of being on Knightmare - not just the filming, but the train journeys, hotel stays away from home, hanging around - must have been quite overwhelming, and probably led to some quite emotional moments for the kids. Some of them, in their moodier moments, could make pencil-flinging an Olympic event! I think I would have been too nervous, and starstruck, to mess around during filming.

As I've mentioned before, I was at school with one of the Series 7 advisers; and I remember him saying that as his dungeoneer plummeted from a ledge on Play Your Cards Right, he (or one of the other advisers) can be heard saying 'sh*t'! And if not, then that was certainly a moment that would have been edited out!

Before temporal disruption occured in series four. At the start of Jeremys quest just after he got the eye-shield.

A pencil dropping on the floor can be clearly heard from off screen...

Well I doubt it would make too much difference really, would they be able to hear it that well in the anti-chamber?

Actually, TV sets are usually designed to look a lot bigger than they really are, just through a few clever tricks with camera angles and the like. If the antechamber was designed in that way then yes, it would've been very detectable.

I do think it's amazing how Hugo stays straight-faced sometimes. Some of my favourite moments in the early series are when he's explaining something to teams, and they're staring at him and lapping up every word. Then he stops talking and they just carry on staring. The "Get on with it" look he gives some of them is fabulous, and a few then look really guilty for having stared too long.

Those poor children, I bet a few must've developed post-KM trauma.
