Re: Series 4 Episode 16

I'm surprised they didn't cut out the Christmas bit at the end, seeing as it's the beginning of summer! The GJ also noticed, thinking that Treguard was crazy and got completely the wrong time of year! Oh, in the corridor of blades, look _very_ closely. Can you see a small square in the middle of the...

Re: Final team killed by blades?

I watched my tape of the Corridor of Blades scene in freeze-frame just now, and there's one point where a the edge of the blade clearly passes through Giles!  :-* Then we cut away to the advisors. I agree, they were probably let off because it was the end of the series, like that team which died on ...

Re: block and tackle

You'd think that the animated backgrounds in Knightmare would be pre-rendered, especially in the older series when they didn't have advanced real-time rendering facilities like today. The background would just be a paused videotape, and after Pickle/Treguard had warned about the dangers of the Block...

Re: Pointing out something (Possible Spollers)

Don't forget that the dungeoneers weren't allowed to wear anything green or blue, because it would interfere with the bluescreen chromakey! Many people probably chose red because it would be properly visible against the blue screen. I once walked onto the bluescreen exhibit at the museum of Photogra...

Re: Series 4, Episode 11

I think the rules are like this: After pleasing the wall monster in a clue room, a team can take any two objects - no more. Objects in a level stay until they're either given away/dropped (in the case of things like gold bars and aniseed) or used (things like magic potions). Items such as horns and ...

Re: "Simon - sidestep to your left..."

In fact, if you read the story of a winning quest on this site (where they've provided tons of photographs) you see a scan of the Adventurer's Code that the team are sent before coming on the show. It clearly states that one adviser will be nominated as the 'spellcaster' and is the only one that can...

Re: Series 4 Episode 3

Looks to me like GavIII and then a P. Possibly GAVIN and the P is part of another bit of graffiti, done at a different time. Hard to tell though since whatever's after the P is obscured by the eye-shield border.

Re: What age are you...?

I'm 22 by now. Born in Nov 1980, and I remember very well watching the very first series of Knightmare when I was only 7-8 years old! Oddly, I was never scared of the life force face/skull thing! I was scared of much less 'scary' things, like the noise when a dungeoneer moved between rooms (in the f...

Knightmare Knitpicks! (maybe spoilers)

Post here any nitpicks you've noticed with the series, including technical ones! The episode that was on Challenge at 6pm today, in the room before the dungeoneer went into the Corridor of Blades (and died), look closely at the left middle of the screen. If you're watching a live TV broadcast of the...

How about the first quest in series 8? Possibly the shortest Knightmare quest ever, only taking one episode! I also think it's funny when the teams mess up left and right, and sidestep where they were meant to turn. In one episode the dungeoneer was on the path, and was asked to "Turn to your r...

Re: Stupid, stupid people

I remember several people being 'stupid' during Knightmare's run. For instance, one dungeoneer was walking along that path, and the adviser clearly said "Turn to your right". The dungeoneer instead sidestepped to the right - and ended up sinking into a pit of green stuff! Also the bit wher...

Re: Sound On Challenge?

Yes I did, but I posted because all the eps of Knightmare I've seen so far have this odd 'drifting' sound problem. The ads are okay, as was the programme before/after.

Re: End of Season

The digital compression kinda ruined the colorising effect though. Look at the room where the dungeoneer was when the trumpet appeared. You can see multiple squares of compression all over the image like watching a Realvideo! Oh, did anyone else notice the sound slowing down in the red corridor befo...

Re: Sound On Challenge?

It seems that the earlier Knightmare episodes weren't actually made in stereo (since NICAM only started to broadcast in about 1993 anyway!) so it's probably to do with the master tapes. If you play back a tape with a mono linear soundtrack on a VT machine with a stereo head, you often hear the audio...
