John Woodnutt TV & film clips
I've been greatly enjoying some of John's other TV work:
~ Possibly his last TV appearance, as the Slobs' butler in Harry Enfield & Chums at 3:01.
~ Playing a doctor in Wycliffe. His scenes are here at 4:36 / 6:30 / 7:43, here at 0:39 / 10:03 and here at 0:00 / 8:23.
~ Appearing as a Lord in Paul Merton: The Series at 9:13.
~ His recurring role in Jeeves & Wooster, as mentioned in this thread and elsewhere on the forum. He can be seen at the very start of the first episode, and in most parts of this one, this one, this one, this one and this one.
~ Another entertaining role as the Senior Tutor in all four episodes of Porterhouse Blue. (I never imagined I'd hear Merlin's voice speaking the words "sexual satisfaction".)
~ Playing Algernon's butler Lane in The Importance Of Being Earnest. He appears right from the start, with further scenes here at 2:58 and here at 3:58.
~ Guest starring as a bank manager (he played a few of those!) in The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes, from 28:52.
~ And an appearance at 8:12 in the appropriately-named movie Lifeforce. :)

Re: John Woodnutt
Some more '80s clips of the late, great John Woodnutt...
- As a German pastor in Hitler's SS (2:36).
- Playing a fantastically creepy evil sorcerer in Dramarama play 'Mr Stabs', here at 3:05 and here at 4:07. (David Jason is good in it too!)
- As jockey Bob Champion's father in the biopic Champions (8:32). He can also be seen watching the big race at various points in this clip.
- Starting at 6:29, John has several lines as a Theban senator in Oedipus The King, which by the way is very good. He reprises the same role in Antigone from 10:04.
- He has a minor role as the British Foreign Secretary being held hostage in Who Dares Wins, here (6:49) and here (9:10).
- One scene as a doctor in Sense & Sensibility (5:53). "There is no vital force left... there's nothing more to be done." Could have done with a VIM spell there!
- And a fairly big role in the 1981 Doctor Who story The Keeper Of Traken - his character appears throughout the first three parts, starting at 7:49. YouTube also has some brief clips of his earlier appearances in Doctor Who - 1970's Spearhead From Space (1:05), and recognisable only by his voice in both 1973's Frontier In Space (0:30) and 1975's Terror Of The Zygons (3:08). I know some of you will have seen those before!

Re: John Woodnutt
A few more clips, including some '60s stuff...
- John Woodnutt as a priest in 1989 musical film Mack The Knife, aka The Threepenny Opera (he appears at 1:46).
- As Lady Macbeth's doctor in a 1983 production of Macbeth. I remember acting out this scene at school, possibly in the same role!
- As a doctor again in 1969 sci-fi series Out Of The Unknown, at 8:26 and 3:11.
- And a 1966 guest role in The Avengers, shooting a guy in the stomach! His scenes are at 3:35 / 6:44, 6:57 / 11:14 and 8:56.

There are some short clips of John Woodnutt in Doctor Who story 'Terror of the Zygons' on the BBC website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01crrpx
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01crr35
He's also in a couple of screencaps here:

(Unsure whether or not this is worthy of a small website article? It's not exactly news, but possibly of interest to people who watched the recent anniversary episode. I haven't seen Terror of the Zygons, though.)

Re: John Woodnutt/Doctor Who
Your IKM Lexicon entry on Doctor Who could be adapted into a Knightmare.com article if you felt so inclined. The overlap of Knightmarians and Whovians must be quite large, and if more of the latter were aware of our Doctor Who subforum then we might get more activity here.Canadanne wrote:Unsure whether or not this is worthy of a small website article?

Working on a KM & Doctor Who article now. What section of the site would it go under, though?

Depends on the nature of it, really.
It's usually best to put it under uncategorised and let us pick.

Re: John Woodnutt
John Woodnutt can now be seen in an episode of The Saint called 'Luella', from 1964. He plays a crooked hotel porter at 3:46, 25:01, 25:46 and 33:08. I think that's the earliest of his roles that I've ever seen - he would have been 39 at the time.
