My favourite set was the threesome offered by Golgarach in Series 3, the final one being something along the lines of 'Which is bigger, a large ocean or a saucer of water'? Thinking it was a trick question, the team answered the saucer, at which point Golgarach said 'Falsehood- of course the ocean is bigger!'! ;D

That was good as it should that Golgarach had a sense of humour?

What do you think of Oakley's questions?

...am dragging up a topic from three years ago because I CAN! Heee.

Did anyone else used to *gulp* cheat at the riddles in the books? I used to get SO frustrated when I didn't know the answers... I only cheated in the Sorceror's Isle, but now I feel so ashamed - I can never get that experience back, sob!

I have to admit that I cheated. I got 'Can You Beat The Challenge' around the time it came out in 1988. I was only five years old at the time, though. :)

...ditto.

Also, I think I've taken some of the books too seriously. I yell at all my friends when they try and wear a green top with their jeans "because green and blue will never do!"

Lol! That's one of those things that has stuck with me too! Me and my mum know some really obscure things thanks to the early KM and book riddles! (btw, my username is an early KM quote which still makes me and my mum fall about laughing!)

Ask a stupid riddle

Post by HStorm »

What do you reckon was the dumbest riddle asked in the entire series?

I'd say Door-is' little gem, "A female gladiator is called Gladys; True or False?" closely followed by Motley with, "I've got a frog leg in this hand and another frog leg in this hand; what have I got?"

Any other candidates?

I liked Motleys frogs legs question, simply because its so simple.

Elitas hahaha hehehe to Alexs team in series 5 was funny (I can't remember the exact quote,) simply because the team took ages to realise they needed to use the spell on her.

Series 4, team 1, Helen, James, Rachel and Craig from Tyne and Wear:

The Quest for the Cup : Duration 43mins, was good when they gave Fatilla some gold and convinced him he could eat it.

I know where you're coming from with that one, but if you look at it in the context of the previous two riddles in the challenge, it was actually a rather clever trap.

The first two questions both had answers that were the opposite of what you would probably expect at first glance. That got the team into the mindset to go for the least obvious answer every time, and so of course they were undone by it.

What 2 questions were they asked previously to that (and indeed which team was it.)

The first riddle went something on the lines of, "Who is stronger? The warrior or the scribe?" (Answer; the scribe, for the pen is mightier than the sword.)

The second was, "Which is easier to carry? A lead vase or a feather in the wind?" (Answer: a lead vase, because you can't even catch a feather in the wind.)

The dungeoneer was Kelly from team 7 season 3, and the wall monster was Golgarach.

OK I must admit that I don't like trick questions being asked to teams.

And despite getting 2 out of 3 right, they didn't have an obvious hint on what to take.

It was pretty obvious to me, because with questions like that, they should have been - or at least, I was - expecting a trap!

Series 2 Team 12 where Merlin asks:

"What does an elephant forget?"

Granted, it was a trick question (as an elephant never forgets), but the fact the team did not know and as a result died at the end of Level 2, I personally found that to be a bit embarrassing.
