Ben says POWER - let's see what that scores him...
It's another Mogdred spell, this time gifted to Stuart's team from Series 2. Again, the team wisely chose not to use Mogdred's magic, even when they had no other option. Ben scores 3 points, bringing his total to 5. Will this be enough to make it through to the second round? Only time will tell!

Amy, it's time for your second answer. Our current high scorer is Ben on 5. If you score 2 or less, you are definitely through to the next round.

Amy says HERO - let's see what that scores her...
Congratulations, Amy - HERO scores you 1 point and brings your total to 3, seeing you safely through to the next round. This spell was awarded to Alistair (Team 2 of Series 4) by Malice and would apparently have summoned someone "long dead" to aid him in the deepest depths of the third level - intriguing!

Re: Knightmare Pointless II
Torn between a few ideas... I'm gonna risk another answer I'm not 100% sure about. I seem to recall a team in Series 2 getting a spell from Merlin that they didn't need, which I think was called SHIELD.

Annie says SHIELD - let's see what that scores her...
Congratulations, Annie - SHIELD scores you 1 point and brings your total to 1, seeing you safely through to the next round. This time, however, I can't tell you that you're exactly right - it was Series 1, not Series 2... but other than that, spot on! Merlin awarded SHIELD to Richard's team (the last of the series) but they never got an opportunity to use it... or not one that we were allowed to see, anyway!

Re: Knightmare Pointless II
Rosey says BACKFIRE - let's see what that scores her...
Congratulations, Rosey - BACKFIRE scores you 2 points and brings your total to 3, seeing you safely through to the next round with Annie and Amy. BACKFIRE was acquired from a scroll by Ben's winning team from Series 6, but they abandoned it on the advice of Greystagg. BACKFIRE is therefore possibly the most pointless spell ever to feature on Knightmare!
Let's take a look at the whole board:
BUT - 6
TRANSFORMATION - 5
POWER - 3
ANVIL - 2
BACKFIRE - 2
FLARE - 2
FLIGHT - 2
GLORY - 2
UNITAS - 2
ENERGY - 1
FREEZER - 1
GHOST - 1
HERO - 1
OPPOSITE - 1
SAVANT - 1
SHIELD - 1
SHOVEL - 1
TREAT - 1
RETURN - 0
TINY - 0
So, at the end of Round 1, the scoreboard looks like this:

And so we say goodbye to Ben - bad luck and thanks for playing! Rosey, Annie and Amy move on to Round 2, which will follow shortly.

ROUND 2
FATALLY REJECTED CLUE OBJECTS
You're about to see a board of six clue objects. We asked 8 people to tell us which dungeoneer died as a result of rejecting each one. Players, you must each choose an object and name the dungeoneer whose quest eventually ended as a result of not taking it. We have got:
NB: Please give your answers in the following form - Dungeoneer's First Name (Series X), e.g. Robert (Series 9)
Rosey is up first, and her answer will follow soon.

Re: Knightmare Pointless II
Rosey says Gold - Richard (Series 5). Let's see what that scores her...
Ariadne rather rushed Richard's team into a decision by chasing them out of her lair and they chose the wrong thing - the horn instead of the gold! Gwendoline had given them an obscure clue about bribing their way through to the Gate Tower, but I've never judged them too harshly for failing to take it into account in the heat of the moment. Rosey scores 4 points.

Annie, there are five answers left on the board for you. Please nominate your fatally rejected clue object and corresponding dead dungeoneer.

Re: Knightmare Pointless II
It's so difficult to guess the scores for these! Rosey took my first choice again, so I'll go for the divining rod, Stuart (Series 2).

Annie says Divining Rod - Stuart (Series 2). Let's see what that scores her...
Foolishly, Stuart's team opted to take a dagger (or "knoife", as they prefered to call it) instead of a divining rod in the level 2 clue room, and they soon paid the price. Annie, you also score 4 points.
