Re:Bribes

I have to agree that that's the most implausible part of the Knightmare set-up. Unless they were unwilling to risk being injured by the dungeoneer? That doesn't really cut the mustard, I don't think, as most guards were armed. But maybe it's a small possibility? Almost as implausible, though underst...

Well, maybe. Perhaps Julius Scaramonger or Honesty Bartram had further-reaching trade routes than we give them credit for.

Re:Character deterioration

I think I know what I'm prepared to put it down to, if it doesn't sound too xenophobic: the Americans. Before I get shouted at, I'll explain: the Americans have a higher incidence of manic depression (bipolar disorder) than we do. This is frequently reflected in American fiction in which there's oft...

Re:Merlin's Calling Name?

It's possible that at least one of the team members had watched Knightmare before and knew who he was :D Somehow I find that hard to believe after hearing dungeoneers left, right and centre refer to Hordriss as 'an old man'. That indicates a lack not only of knowledge of his name but just how much ...

Re:Motley's Place in the Dungeon

I think he did! But in the case of Mogdred and Lord Fear, I think the rule holds the same - Motley was still there to make the general community feel more at ease with the fact that they were ultimately under these peoples' rule. It just strikes me that it's more likely he was appointed by Treguard....

Re:What do you reckon happened to Mogdred?

Well, he was Merlin's alter ego so I'll guess that perhaps he died when Merlin died (or went wherever Merlin went) after season 4.

Motley's Place in the Dungeon

I have a theory on Motley's role in the dungeon if anyone would like to read it. I'm not sure whether this'll create much opportunity for discussion, but I hope it does. Anyway, here we go: Firstly, some background information. When jesters were popular, making fun of the king was labelled treason a...

Re:Merlin's Calling Name?

Okay. It did seem to not quite fit that a particularly powerful wizard wouldn't give out his calling name. I think Velda once said that a calling name is, in fact, your true name. This would suggest that the name one regularly goes by in the dungeon would be a chosen secondary name, perhaps of the i...

Merlin's Calling Name?

I've done a forum search but can't seem to find it. Does anyone know whether Merlin revealed what his calling name was? That's assuming he had one...
