I am not sure if any of you have noticed this topic in the challenge forum yet but it looks like Challenge are willing to pick up all series of Knightmare AND are planning on working with Televirtual in the near future to create a new show to air early next year.

Some fantastic news not only do we have Timegate and the new live Knightmare but we also have this to look forward to if it comes about.

It appears that Challenge are really listening to us now and will do so more if S4 is very popular!

I hope it's a remake of "Virtually Impossible"

**OH** **MY** **GOD**!

Brilliant news! Indeed, TeleVirtual has announced that the new show will dispense with the need for a Chromakey studio and will therefore be much cheaper to make. As a result, the new series, I would say, is a very attractive prospect!

A new series and an 8 Series Knightmare DVD set is all I want to see!

Umm...this might be heresy but I dislike the idea of a full VR Knightmare...the whole appeal of the original for me was it was an ordinary kid entering a surreal world that looked pretty real.

What's VR gonna do for that?

hmmmm, im not sure quite how good VR is these days :-/

as long as it holds true to the "feel" of knightmare i'll be happy enough.

im not sure about the whole dispensing with advisors thing though. I know that personally a lot of the tension came from knowing the person "in danger" couldn't see a thing. who knows ::)

I would imagine that there would still be at least one advisor - to encourage discussion of decisions and to encourage the dungeoneer to describe what's going on, thus making it accessible to the audience.

As for the VR thing, I've made my views known several times before! Basically, they bottle down to one of the chief axioms of Km; the only way is onward - there is no turning back.

I'm sure Televirtual have discussed this in depth, weighing the pros and cons. After all, changing the format of a successful show is, of course, a risk - the all-important X factor may be lost. At the end of the day, though, it comes down to trust.

Having just re-read this carefully, I fear I may have jumped to an inaccurate conclusion. What is this "new show to air early next year"? I wrongly assumed without thinking that it would be the new Km. Which begs two questions:

(1) What is this new show?
(2) Would Challenge also be interested in the new Km?
