Hmm, some good points about this episode. The team scored 2/3 against Cedric the Mad Monk, who didn't take nicely to losing! Before going off to 'have a sulk' he allowed the dungeoneer to have some food, and gave them an ANVIL spell. Used the ANVIL spell to knock out Gumboil the guard in the next room. Gumboil was not too pleased with having magic used on him again!
I think the previous team's ANVIL spell would have done the same thing, make a large anvil appear to knock out the guard.
Next room, there were two food objects on the table! Treguard hinted that 'something is fishy here', and after a lengthy discussion they decided to take the grapes. One of the advisers commented "How is he going to eat a raw fish?"
After rejecting the fish and putting the grapes in the knapsack, there was not really much choice of the two objects to take! The key turned out to be Casper the talking key, and he hinted that they'd need some kind of timer - so took the egg timer as well.
The ad break occurred here, and unusually they used the logo from the Series 5-8 intro - complete with a burst of the Series 5-8 title music!
Back to the episode, the moving-keyhole room was next. An adviser actually said they should ask Casper for help with this! Casper said he could do this, and suggested they don't go through one of the doors without a lock symbol on it! Took them forever to get through the moving keyhole room! Eventually it's as if the production team decided to freeze the keyhole in the middle, and still the dungeoneer had to hold the key up higher and sidestep left!
Merlin's room next, they had to assemble the M blocks again like the previous team. I liked how Merlin said he didn't know that 'toy' still worked! Also, when 'Mer' asked if they knew any of his other names, the dungeoneer said 'No', causing Merlin to say that IS another of his names!
Scored 3/3 on Merlin's riddles, and gained a possible record of 3 spells FLARE, FREEZER, and ENERGY. Warns them of Mogdred, his alter ego - and the Level 2 guards are holding a tournament, and they must run the gauntlet!
Oddly, Treguard told them to leave both items in Merlin's room before leaving! I liked Casper interrupting to say 'Well done' and 'Good luck'
Corridor of Spears next, and they attempt to do something never done by any team before or since, crouch down to avoid the spikes! Well, after a long discussion about what to do - and Treguard had to remind them to hurry up!
Next room had 4 doors, 2 with keyholes. Folly appeared again (Adviser: Guess who, Danny!). Folly got so foolish that Treguard intervened again! I didn't understand Folly's riddle any more than the team did! And could have done without Folly blowing a raspberry
Time-out occurred in this room. This time, Folly laughed over the credits! Now we have to wait until Monday to see how they do!
The current team is doing well - from start to finish of this episode it's all one quest! No deaths or new team starting.
Oh, slightly off topic here, but this seems to be the pattern for Challenge's ad break:
1. Static or animated Knightmare logo
2. Challenge logo (1 second)
3. Commercials
4. Challenge logo (1 second)
5. Challenge trailer (e.g. Paradise Hotel Uncensored, Bruce's Brain Buzz)
6. Static or animated Knightmare logo (return to episode)
So if you stop the tape for the ad breaks, like I do, restart it just as the Challenge trailer is ending - often with times the advertised programme is on.
