I think it is still the case. The article you point to says:
"First, when the transfer was made, the games lost all their playability and what I ended up with was a collection of slides"

Interactive as they may be made, they're still a collection of slides. I don't think it's unfair to say "they only play in Harvard Graphics 3.0"

I found Knightmare 16 quite playable, and I don't (knowingly) have Harvard Graphics 3.0 for DOS. But that is not really the point. :)

I suppose the point I was trying to make was that readers coming to Paul's 2004 article directly may be unaware that as of 2011 his creations are available elsewhere on Knightmare.com, because the two articles don't appear to be linked. The purpose of this thread is to improve the website, and that's all I was really attempting to do. I didn't think I'd be a target myself. ;)

Website corrections

Post by Drassil »

In another thread, I recently wrote:We can surely expect a surge in visitors (some from the media) to Knightmare.com over the next few weeks, and we want it to represent Knightmare and the fandom as well as possible. The coincidence of anniversaries, plus the cinematic return of Knightmare's godfather Tolkien to the limelight, makes this a very special Knightmare flag-waving opportunity that may never come again. If ever there were a time to get Knightmare.com looking its best, I would suggest that that time is now.
While I don't wish to steal thunder from Keith (insert 'Thunderland' joke here), the TQ typos listed earlier in this thread by Annie (thank you for doing so) almost two years ago have remained unaltered, so I've taken the liberty of correcting them. I don't know what to do about all the apparently-non-displaying TQ pictures though. (They are still in place in archived versions of the website.) We really could do with scans of The Quest if anyone is willing and able to provide them at long last. If you do not have a scanner but would be willing to post your copies of The Quest to me to be scanned, please let me know.
Earlier in this thread, James wrote:The original guestbook entry that dungeoneer Giles made back in June 2000 (over ten years ago now - click here to see the entry, at present its the fifth entry down). This isn't currently featured with the other guestbook entries made by Giles and advisor Robin should you wish to add it when making proposed amendments.
Thanks for the link, James. I've taken the liberty of adding this to the Series 4 Teams page.

I noticed also that the Series 7 landing page started with the words 'Series 7: 1992'! That too has now been put right.

Good job, David! I hope someone knows how to fix all the missing images on the TQ pages, and also in some of the old news items (see below).

Some time ago I noted down a bunch more errors I had spotted, but didn't get round to posting them here as the last batch had yet to be fixed. Here they are:

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series-7
~ Jacquelin Joyce's name was spelled wrong on the Series 7 main page. (This is currently not visible as the bottom of the page is missing, due to the still-not-fixed problem of imposed character limits affecting several important pages.)

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -3-level-3
~ In the Series 3 level guides, the Fire Cave has no image or description, and the Level 3 Dwarf Tunnels have the wrong image (the hobgoblin scene).

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... es-4-teams
~ In the Series 4 teams guide, under Nicky's quest it says "Accepted a challenge from Hordriss, but he did not say what it was." Eh? He asked her to redeem the Dagger of Darkness for him.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -4-level-2
~ In the Series 4 guide to Level 2, one of the images at the top doesn't match the description: "On the right, this room was used when a dungeoneer needed to change size to fit through doors (as in Dickon's quest)." No it wasn't... that was a totally different room, which wasn't the first room of Level 2.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -5-level-1
http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
~ In the Series 5 guide to Level 1, "this picture shows Brother Mace playing cards with Sylvester Hands!" Not unless they recently drank an invisibility potion, it doesn't. :P
From the second page, "Werewolves in the background" - LOL what?? Is there any particular reason to believe the townsfolk are werewolves?

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -6-level-2
~ In the Series 6 guide to Level 2, "Courtyard with Scaramonger" shows a duplicate image of the clue area outside the castle. Several typos and misspelled names: "propsed", "Peggarty", "Dreadnaught", "Heggarty", "Sidress".

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... opposition
~ In the Series 6 Opposition guide, "The Leader of the Opposition had a new chamber in Mount Fear this season, whilst retaining his communications pool." The pool was new for this series! (He had a crystal ball before.)

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... es-7-teams
~ In the Series 7 teams guide, the link to a scan of Team 3's clipboard notes gives a 404 error.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
~ In the Series 8 teams guide, it says "Nevertheless he gives them a spell to open the trapdoor, then also gave them a FLOAT spell use on the trapdoor. Rothberry tries to go down with Michael, but it doesn't work!" This is wrong - he only gave them one spell (FLOAT), and used a flying potion to prevent himself from falling through the trapdoor, which he opened for them by jumping on it. (The first sentence also has a missing word and inconsistent tense.)
Further down the same page, "She charges up their Reach wand with a hidden REVEAL spell." It was actually a REVEAL HIDDEN spell!

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... opposition
~ In the Series 8 Opposition guide, Sidriss is again misspelled as "Sidress". Also, this doesn't make a whole lot of sense: "He held a hand puppet called 'Snapper' because his arm got bitten off once, apparently." How could he hold it without a hand? :P Clearly it *was* a puppet in reality, but it was supposed to be a live snapdragon that had grown in place of his arm!

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -8-winners
~ On the Series 8 winners page, there are supposedly two photos of Alan's Frightknight trophy at the bottom, but neither images nor links are present!

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fanzines/38-club
~ On the KAC page, "Hugo's There?" in Volume 2 Number 2 (Spring 1993) linked to a random page from an earlier issue. (Not currently visible as most of the page is cut off.)

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-122
~ In the Spring 1992 issue of TQ, I can now confirm that Rayner Bourton's charity should be "Tendis", not "Tendris".
Another typo I missed before: "...unfortunately we can't return then..." (should be "them").

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... uest-114-5
Canadanne wrote:~ "Smirkenorff is his name (Smirky to his few friends) among them Elita, the cheeky Elf)." Urgh, bracket imbalance! *has a thing about mismatched parentheses*
While the extra bracket has now been removed, I'm thinking perhaps it was the other one that should have been left in place: "Smirkenorff is his name (Smirky to his few friends, among them Elita, the cheeky Elf)." Come to think of it, that's probably how the mistake occurred in the first place - OCR scanner mistaking a comma for a bracket.

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-216
~ "I think this one's hilarious!" This is still missing a quote mark after it.

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... uest-224-5
~ ""So, it was you who saved me! exclaimed Treguard." Still needs another quote mark added.

(There may well be more typos to correct in the TQ pages, as I only looked through the first five issues.)

Problems with links and images which I noticed after the last upgrade:

~ The 'Next' link takes you to the next section of the website when you'd expect it to take you to the next page of the current section. For example, in Tim's 'A History of Knightmare', when you get to the end of Page 1 and click 'Next', you don't go to Page 2, but to the Terms and Conditions section. There *are* page links at the top, but it's still confusing and not how the site used to behave. Even more confusingly, in most of the TQ issues, 'Next' does take you to the next page, while 'Next Page' is a broken link.

http://www.knightmare.com/home/faq
~ On the FAQ page, the links to the FANSFAQ and History of Knightmare (x2) need correcting.

http://www.knightmare.com/home/links
~ A small nitpick: the categories on the Links page have ended up being listed backwards, starting with 'Others' which looks a bit odd.
Under Fansites, the KMRAmDram link is out of date (now replaced by the Dunshelm Players site), and under Reviews, the two Bother's Bar articles have moved. A few other fansites and reviews seem to be gone now as well, but might still exist on web.archive.org?

http://www.knightmare.com/news/kmvr
http://www.knightmare.com/news/timegate
~ Is there a way to put the KMVR and TimeGate news items back into chronological order? At the moment they're all jumbled up.

http://www.knightmare.com/news/kmvr/145 ... evelopment
~ News item 'Knew Knightmare VR development' mentions a graphic "shown above", but the graphic is no longer there. The link to the TimeGate trailer is also broken.

http://www.knightmare.com/news/kmvr/145 ... -new-clips
http://www.knightmare.com/news/kmvr/144 ... -available
~ News items 'Knightmare VR - New Clips' and 'Knightmare VR - Pilot Clips Available' both include a broken link to the KMVR download page which is now located here:
http://www.knightmare.com/series/43-roo ... ething-new
The latter news item also has an image missing, and all the screencaps on the download page are broken, as are several of the links.

http://www.knightmare.com/news/timegate ... eater-game
~ News item 'Return of the Greater Game' is meant to be a promotional graphic, but the graphic has disappeared.

http://www.knightmare.com/news/timegate ... e-articles
~ In the news item 'Timegate Articles', the links to the articles are broken.

http://www.knightmare.com/news/timegate ... mo-trailer
~ TimeGate news item 'Promo Trailer' is missing the attached download of the trailer.

http://www.knightmare.com/behind/unseen ... mare-pilot
~ Billy's article about the pilot script is missing the actual script attachment.

http://www.knightmare.com/behind/unseen ... 8-outtakes
http://www.knightmare.com/behind/unseen ... ellyvision
http://www.knightmare.com/behind/unseen ... experiment
~ 'Series 8 Outtakes', 'Knightmare on Kellyvision' and 'Chroma Key Experiment' no longer require the (broken) links to the video clips, as they're now attached to the articles. The History link at the bottom of the Kellyvision article also needs fixing.

http://www.knightmare.com/behind/unseen ... mirkenorff
~ The Smirkenorff article has a broken link to an article in The Quest.

http://www.knightmare.com/behind/unseen ... e-drawings
~ Original Title Drawings article has a broken link at the top.

Those are the only sections I got round to checking, so there may be similar issues elsewhere on the website.

On a more positive note, I meant to say before that the site looks great with all the new section illustrations etc, and I noticed that many of the broken links *had* been fixed which is great to see!

Thanks for the link, James. I've taken the liberty of adding this to the Series 4 Teams page.
There are a whole bunch of other Guestbook signings that aren't mentioned in the Series guides, if you want to add them...

~ Mark Cheetham (Series 1 Team 4) signed in April 2006, not 2005 as currently stated.

~ Stuart Leatherland and Neal from Series 2 Team 8 have both signed the Guestbook, though admittedly they didn't say much worth quoting!
Stuart wrote in February 1999: "Having been a contestant on knightmare in 1988, i can honestly say that this is a great page. you can contact me if you wish for any info. see ya!!!!!"
Neal wrote in February 2009: "I was on Knightmare !!!!! Would love to get a DVD of it, any chance of helping me ????"

~ Jason Karl (Series 2 Team 10) signed it twice. In November 2001 he wrote:
"Your site is fantastic - I was the second ever winner of Knightmare (Julian Smith - Im an Actor and have changed my name) and this bought back do many wondeful memories. I was a massive Knightmare Devotee and still have all the recordings of all Broadswords shows - I was also on Tim's other series 'The Satellite Game'. Liams remixes of the theme are great - they really made me smile and took me back in time. Ill have to come chat in the chat room sometime and take a look at your RPG. I wrote a Knightmare RPG once and even made our own version on video when I was 16 - it was ace!!!! and I still adore it. Thanks for your work on the site - it couldnt be any better. PS Look out for my new series on UK LIving soon - Im Prsenting a show about ghosts with Yvette Fielding (remember her from Blue Peter?.)"
Then in March 2003 he visited again and wrote:
"This site is fantastic, I'm still a di hard Knightmare fan long after winning the game in series 2 as 'Julian'. I hear Knightmare is being resurrected... can't wait.
Visit my website; http://www.jasondexterkarl.com - there is a picture of me in Knightmare in one of the picture galleries, and one of me in Broadsword's other gameshow 'The Satellite Game'.
"

~ Mark Hodder (Series 2 Team 12) signed in January 2001. He wrote:
"It funny to see a picture of myself aged 12,
I was on the show in the second series.
Great website good to see some classic kids TV out there
"

~ Leo (Series 3 Team 4) signed in May 2005. He wrote:
"I was on knightmare as a contendor, back in 1991, ah the memmories, i was amazed to find this website, and hope they bring it back on television"
(The year isn't right but as far as I'm aware there was only one contestant called Leo!)

~ Someone signed as 'Dicken' from Torquay in February 2003, though I'm not sure if it was the real dungeoneer (Series 4 Team 6). He wrote: "I was a winner on the show and watching on Challenge Tv flooded back the memories of me blowing the horn and running into the goblins" and "I would love to BBK".

~ Ray Lockton (Series 5 Team 4) signed the Guestbook in August 2000, which isn't mentioned, though it does mention him sending in their photos and stuff. He wrote:
"Brilliant Web-Site. I was the team captain of the winning team of series 5. John Shaw (the loud spellcaster) told me about the site in the pub. After all this time I can't believe I can download our winning clip!
Thanks very much!
Cheers,
Ray
"

~ Paul Etheridge (Series 5 Team 7) signed in April 2001, before teammate Ciarán. He wrote:
"We got to level 3 but were killed because we didn't have a Jesters's toy.
Knightmare was really cool, and should still be on in my opinion. Nothing has ever come close!
"

~ Simon Brett (Series 6 Team 7) signed in July 2000. He wrote: "Brilliant!!! A website dedicated to the mighty show that was Knightmare! I had a fantastic few days when my friends and I were on the show, season 6 finale. I heartily agree that Knightmare should return to our screens, kids TV could certainly benefit from the quality of a show that made people think whilst having a great time."

~ Neil Cobb (Series 7 Team 3) signed in August 2000. He wrote:
"Hi! I was part of a 1994 team that died on the very last screen of the game. I was a fat little schoolboy who thought Knightmare was the greatest show on earth! Looking back at the movieclips brings up all the emotion I felt sitting on that bench!
Oddly enough, my brother (who was also in the team) and I bumped into Treguard outside our local Safeway, 5 minutes from our house. He lives in our town (Pinner, NW London) and was riding a bright red motorbike he had called Smirganoff. He remembered us. That's all I needed!
All the best.
"

~ Richard Howse (Series 8 Team 1) signed in February 2000. He wrote: "Great site... Lucky to log in here actually. I was the first contestant for series 8... It was great, iw asn't supposed to be the Dungeoneer, but due to production decisions I ended up donning the helmet and crashing into portculis' and walls - It was great fun, and I've have loved to have gone back now that I'm an Actor to play it from the other side as one of the characters. Oh well, life goes on!"

~ Karen (Series 8 Team 3) signed in August 2002, not January as currently stated.
Her teammate Cat Olding signed in June 2007. She wrote: "I was in Team 3 Series 8 - It was an amazing experience and really good fun to see how the show was made!"

~ Our very own Alan Boyd (Series 8 Team 6) signed in January 1999. He wrote: "As a Knightmare contestant, I have to say that this site is brilliant and continues to display how truly amazing the TV show is. A worthy way to commemorate it's memory :)"

~ Oliver Duhl (Series 8 Team 7) signed in July 2004.
How did you find this website?: "Pure fluke on a recently-inspired trip down memory lane!"
Any comments?: "I just wanted to say this is a great site - and do any of you remember me? I was the final Dungeoneer of the final series of the show (series eight) - which is a truly unique achievement. After all this time, watching the show myself, auditioning and then travelling to Norwich to film it has stayed with me. Knightmare forever!"

Thanks for taking the time to list all those. The more errors are found and reported, the more can (eventually) be corrected. I can't imagine that, in Merlin's words, there is only a short way to go. :-/

I've taken the liberty of attending to as many of them as I could. Some issues were beyond my reach: the cut off pages (quite a concern - typos pale in comparison), the order in which articles are listed, the 'Next' links, most missing images. Here's hoping that Alan and Keith can address these in due course.
Canadanne wrote: http://www.knightmare.com/series/43-roo ... ething-new
The latter news item also has an image missing, and all the screencaps on the download page are broken, as are several of the links.
Keith has essentially locked this page, so I trust that he intends to take care of it.

http://www.knightmare.com/news/knightma ... e-episodes
'CITV have been in contact to say that two episodes of Knightmare will be shown on teh 5th and 6th of January 2013.'
Although this is Alan's article, I took the liberty of correcting that typo to avoid embarrassment. The article might also benefit from links to the relevant episode discussion threads but it wasn't my place to add them.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
This page no longer contains five misspellings of Dunstan's name.
Canadanne wrote:There are a whole bunch of other Guestbook signings that aren't mentioned in the Series guides, if you want to add them...
Thanks for those too. It's arguably more useful having them gathered here than spread across the series pages! But I have now added most of them (I was sceptical about the 'Dicken' one), fixing numerous links in the process.

I only hope that all the corrections won't be lost in the next upgrade...

Canadanne wrote:~ "...or is it too ghostly too contemplate?" One never knows in the dungeon, but I would guess this is meant to say "ghastly".
Yes, 'ghastly' makes more sense. After correcting that, I heard Treguard making an "O" sound, but I assumed it was just his chain-mail chafing and I ignored him. ;)

It turns out that reinstating most of the absent TQ images will be a lot more straightforward than I had feared, and I have already restored several of them. Having said that, many images from the original TQ issues were never included on the Knightmare.com pages in first place, partly due to the constraints of the dial-up internet era.

Typos in the last two issues of TQ:

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-412
~ "He claims to be of natural alliance..." Should this be "neutral"?

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... uest-414-5
~ "...a highlight is sure to he the floor puzzle scene..."

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-416
~ "Then to my horror my arm grew back as snapper..." Needs a capital S.
~ "...you might have been for more susceptible to fear..."

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-422
~ "...Treguard has to find a way..." Should probably be "had".
~ "...spells were casts and wine was quaffed..."

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-423
~ "...and play me the honour and courtesy..."
~ "I have him clear instructions..."

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... uest-424-5
~ "They need information from the time which this technology as taken from."

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-427
~ "...Letitia Dean and and June Brown..."
~ "...produced jointly by EFS and the BBC" - missing a full stop.

Also these few still need fixing:

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-233
~ "...and its something that I particularly relish..." (should be "it's")

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-323
~ "They are as good as the first ever spell in series, which was "Freezer"..." (should be "series 1")

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-326
~ "What's it like being frozen in time for an entire week, presumably while life goes an around you?"

http://www.knightmare.com/fan-stuff/fan ... -quest-327
~ "...and fill it to the top with thc vinegar."

And some errors from elsewhere on the site:

http://www.knightmare.com/series
~ "Cromakey tests conducted in Anglia TV's Studio A." Chromakey has an 'h' in it.
~ "The finished pilot viewed by the ITV Children's' Committee, who decided to commissioned 8 half-hour episodes." Don't need the second apostrophe after Children's, and that should be "commission".
~ "...video of the path the dungeonner is taking."
~ "...the technical complexity of Cromakey based shows..."
~ "...blaming the demise of Knightmare because of a fall in ratings." This sentence sounds odd - should it not say she blamed it *on* a fall in ratings?
~ I would suggest that the timeline on this page deserves an update, as it only goes up to 2004. You could mention when the Challenge repeats ended, and when they started expressing an interest in showing it again. The CITV anniversary stuff should definitely be mentioned. There was also the shelving of KMVR and TimeGate (and what Tim told James about the US version discussed last year). And of course the show's 25th anniversary, as celebrated with the documentary.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-1
http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-3
http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-6
~ On the pages for Series 1 Quests 1, 3 and 6, the link to Page 2 is mislabelled as 'Table of Contents', so it's not at all clear how to reach the second page. (Also I definitely think there should be a link to page 2 at the bottom as well as the top, otherwise page 2 is likely to be missed by readers.)

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-1
~ "The Squiredom is the reward for surviving the dungeon..." This sentence shouldn't begin with "The".
~ "it is your own life force..." Needs a capital letter.
~ "The clips are scattered amongst the pages, or can be found together in Audio & Video Clips." There aren't any clips scattered amongst the pages, so I'd remove that statement and add a link to the Series 1 clips page.
~ "Clip available in 'Series Clips'" - again the link would be helpful.
~ "Such minor malignance feed on life force, but usually allow their victims to survive because they are not very bright, they delight on stupidity, your stupidity." Should be "malignants" and "in", and there should be a full stop after "survive", starting the next sentence with "Because".
~ "I have riddles of different kinds..." The line isn't very clear in this episode but I think it's "different times" - that's certainly what Cedric says in a later quest.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
~ Six instances of "Lilith" spelt without the double L.
~ Two instances of "serpents mouth", missing an apostrophe.
~ "The video clip..." Also needs a link to the Series 1 clips page.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-2
~ "Lilith wanted to do her hair..."

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-3
~ "Episode three continued in Lilith's domain."
~ "Lilith this time didn't want anything upfront for passage into the serpents mouth."

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
~ The pic of Cedric and the second pic of the Spears are both mislabelled 'The Giant's Ledge'.
~ "The first set of spears would disappear once the dungeoneer had walked passed it."

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-4
~ "The forth episode continued with a new team:"
~ "After passing through the bomb room, they met Lilith..."
~ "...and straight into it's stomach!." Should be "its", and there's an unneeded full stop after the exclamation mark.
~ "<hrdata-mce-alt="Table of Contents" class="system-pagebreak" title="Page 2" />" If this is meant to be a page break, it's not working. :P
~ "[Many thanks to Danny Reeves for providing further details of of series 1]"
~ "...the team quickly put the ANVIL spell into action which revealed a mallet..." Erm, not a mallet but an anvil, unsurprisingly... it does exactly what it says on the tin!
~ "Now you have defeated Folly" - this shouldn't really have a capital F as it implies they defeated the character Folly, as opposed to foolishness itself!
~ "...after a bit of a telling from Treguard." Missing the word "off"?

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-5
~ "They scored two and was given a clue to take the flowers."
~ "Lilith" misspelled twice.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-quest-6
~ "Lilith" misspelled twice.
~ "...now see where you are, trapped in it's stomach..."
~ "As you can see in the video clip..." Needs a link to the clips.
~ "Next into Merlin's chamber where Casper told them that he was also a magical key. They decided to use it to call Merlin by guiding the round 'M' symbol to the chair." Bit of confusion here, I think - the M symbol was a 'listening key', as explained by Casper.
~ "He appears and poses three riddles, which the team got two correct." This sentence doesn't seem to be worded properly.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
~ "A Gargoyle with a hole drilled in it's mouth!" Should be "its"...
~ "But hang on, its also now the end of the series (or season)." Should be "it's"!

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... -1-on-citv
~ "Thanks to Neil Jones for the following two sound clips from Children's ITV in 1987..." Needs a link to the CITV clips page.
~ "After break, quick plug for Teddy Ruxbin..." Should be 'Ruxpin'.
~ "Sidriss Starshine sent me some scans of the publicity photos used in these articles, and they are in the Pictures section." Would be nice to add a link to them.
~ "I have created a RealMedia clip of this:" The colon implies there should be a link to the clip it's talking about, but there isn't.
~ "(I don't know when exactly during 1987 this was, but it could even be the era before Knightmare even began!" Needs a close bracket!
~ "...this weeks edition of 'Look In'"
~ "Kyle Minogue?" Ah yes, Kylie's less-famous brother. ;)
~ "...and also indecently the first day of morning programmes on ITV..." I'd love to know what was so indecent about the new programmes! ;p

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series-2
~ Gumboil is listed as a new character for Series 2, but he was also in Series 1 so should be under 'Old Characters' instead. Casper the key could also be included here.
~ 'Life Force Images' link is broken.
~ This is one of the pages that's been cut short by the character limit.

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... es-2-teams
~ "...this room (used only used once)."
~ "The Medusa: since they did not take the shield from the clue room. Turned into stone." Strange punctuation here?
~ "Then they encountered Mogdred in the same room as they were at at the beginning of the level!" (same room they were *in* at the beginning)
~ "It is believed that this team may have had their quest restarted after the wheel landed in the quest room..." Should this say "clue room"?

http://www.knightmare.com/series/series ... l=&start=1
~ The second of the 'SHROUD' images is labelled 'The team struggle to spell it backwards', which doesn't do anything to help shake off that myth about the dispelling process. ;p
~ "Team gives her the white gloves for passage." To be more accurate, it was only one glove (I guess she likes the Michael Jackson look).
~ "Stewart opened the honey jar; a hive of bees were heard!" Stuart is spelt with a 'u' as confirmed when he signed the guestbook, and wouldn't "swarm" be more appropriate than "hive"?
~ "Cedric traveled with Jamie to the next room..."
~ "Were they caught but were they let off?" I don't think the second "were they" is needed.
~ "Warned a clue from Gretel in the 5-door room..." (Earned?)
~ "...then caused everything to go mad in the level clue room..." (Level 2)
~ "...who taught them the trick of the Philosopher's Stone." He called it a Sorcerer's Stone. And not just for the US market.
~ "Their task was to find Folly's laughter by taking doors that they could hear laughter." Should either say "where they could hear laughter" or "that they could hear laughter behind".
~ "Their Life Force started fading and could only be restored by magic." This seems to be a misquoting of Treguard who says "Light source fading - quick, team, you need Merlin's magic here!"
~ "Used potion to help bring Mildread down in the Troll's chamber." It was old toenails, not really a potion.
~ The 'End of Season' link takes you to the Series 3 finale page, not Series 2.

Thank you for taking the time to list all these, with links. The TQ pages should now be shipshape and most of the other errors you noted should now be things of the past. I hope that people will get satisfaction from browsing the TQ pages while we wait in hope for scans.

It looks like the newer version of Joomla now limits the size of a category description to 5120 characters.

It's not clear whether the developers have any intention of changing this or not.

And of course, Joomla doesn't warn you if you've exceeded the character limit and no mention of this limit is made within the upgrade process <sigh>.

I'll need to see if I can find some answers
It would appear that the character limits that caused cut-off category pages are no longer in force, meaning that content can be readded as the Webmaster and Publisher see fit. :) The Series 5 and Series 8 category pages seem to be the ones in most urgent need, having lost significant quantities of both text and images.
Given that I could see what needed to be done myself, and that there seemed little question that it ought to be done, I have readded content (manually) as best I can to the Series category pages. I regard that as the most important repair work that needed to be done on the website.

Regarding clips: it would make sense for the clips to be attached to, linked from or embedded in their relevant Quest/Team/CITV pages, but I must leave a decision like that to Keith and Alan. In 2010, there was talk of updating the video content, but I don't know how that's progressing.
Annie wrote:~ On the pages for Series 1 Quests 1, 3 and 6, the link to Page 2 is mislabelled as 'Table of Contents', so it's not at all clear how to reach the second page.
I believe those links are automatically generated, and I will leave our Webmaster and Publisher to look into them as and when they may. My opinion, though, is that page breaks aren't actually necessary on those pages.

Well noted. Obviously this would involve writing brand new content, which I would be willing to do if Keith commissions me to. He may prefer to do it himself or to ask someone else. I seem to recall that Billy was working on a history of Knightmare.com at one point, which would be great to integrate in even a partially completed form, but I never earned a LEECH spell from Merlin and I left the stone in the clue room. ;)

Although it is in the best interests of Knightmare.com to continue identifying and rectifying errors and omissions, I am going to step back from this for the moment. At times it's felt more like an obligation than a good turn, and I would rather wait for the Webmaster and Publisher to advise me as to what level of help they would like going forward.* It's too important, too sprawling and too thankless a project for me to throw myself into without their support.

*Business jargon, I know, but not inappropriate for Knightmare matters. :)

I'm getting tired of reporting the errors, too, so I'm not surprised you are tired of fixing them! (I'd be more than happy to fix typos and broken links myself if I had the ability, but I understand why the site owners don't want too many people having the power to edit stuff.)
