As I've mentioned in a couple of other forum threads, I'm considering a forum reorganisation.
At the moment, we have one extremely large forum (general discussion) and several other smaller forums. Posts are becoming difficult to find, and it's not entirely clear where things should go. The forum structure has currently grown in an ad-hoc manner, based on the original structure of previous KM forums. Having travelled through several software changes, it's no real wonder that the current setup is not ideal.
I'm hoping that the following forum structure would alleviate some issues.
Here's the current plan:
Knightmare HQ
Announcements
General Discussion
Best and Worst (Lists of best and worst things in Knightmare)
Behind the scenes (Posts by cast, crew and contestants)
Questions and Answers (A place for people to ask questions about the series)
Knews Discussion
Knightmare VR
Knightmare on "Challenge?"
Series and Episode Discussion
Series 1
Series 2
Series 3
Series 4
Series 5
Series 6
Series 7
Series 8
Dreaming of Series 9 (What would you change if Knightmare Series 9 were to start development?)
Official Knightmare Stuff
The books
The board game
Merchandice
Knightmare on the web
Website Feedback
The Eye Shield
Contribute (A place for website or community requests to be made)
Knightmare Community
Knewbie Welcome
Fan Creations
Fan Fiction
Fan Art
Fan Games
Jester's Corner (Knightmare jokes)
Real Life Meetings
The Tavern
Parlour Games
Knightmare...but not
International Knightmare
Le Chevalier Du Labyrinth
El Rescate Del Talisman
Reminds me of Knightmare... (Shows or projects that are Knightmare-like, or have similarities with Knightmare)
I now consider the reorganisation to be complete.
It didn't entirely go as planned. In particular:
1) It proved impossible to remove the "What Knext" forum, due to the presence of many BBK posts. I believe this is due to the historical nature of the What Knext forum having originally been a "Bring Back Knightmare" forum. Having moved all the other posts elsewhere, I have therefore renamed the forum back to "Bring Back Knightmare" which will deal with discussion and plans to bring classic Knightmare back to TV/VHS/DVD.
2) The Knightmare merchandice forum didn't appear, because it didn't seem as if there would be a sufficient number of posts to make it worthwhile.
3a) Similarly, some of the subforums did not manifest, because there does not appear to be a sufficiently large requirement for them. As the forum reorganisation settles down, I will have another look for any obvious categories that present themselves and may be introduced without causing additional confusion.
3b) In particular, I'm still tempted by a "Questions and Answers" subforum, but am concerned that it will stretch to accommodate any thread with a question in it.
4) I'm still hopeful at reducing the size of "General Discussion" which I feel is unwieldy. However, no other ideas yet come to mind.
