A New Chain

Anyone who's familiar with the Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon game should recognise the principle of this. (If you don't know it, go to http://www.louisville.com/loumag/mar/bacon.htm.)

What you have to do here is get from one TV star to another by association of programmes they've appeared in. For instance, we can get from Paul Kaye to Hugo Myatt, the following way...

Paul Kaye used to appear in Perfect World with Nina Wadia, who appears in All About Me, in which Iona Kennedy was a guest in one episode. Iona Kennedy of course was in Knightmare with Hugo Myatt. Simple!

Maximum number of programmes in any Chain is six, and the final actor in the chain must be someone who appeared in KM. I'm feeling generous, so shared movie appearances are allowed.

Once you've solved one chain, you're allowed to set the next one (although don't come up with a combination that is highly unlikely to work, or an actor that no one will ever have heard of).

So... can anyone chain these two...?

Michael Sheard   --->   Paul Valentine.

(Sheard's Mr Bronson from Grange Hill, and also the first one Darth Vader choked to death in The Empire Strikes Back.)

Michael Sheard starred in Grange Hill, as did Ramsey Gilderdale, who also starred in Maid Marian And Her Merry Men, which ended in 1994, as did Knightmare, a show that Paul Valentine was in.

Ok, how about this?

Nicholas Lyndhurst ---> David Learner
(Lyndhurst of course has starred in Only Fools And Horses, Goodnight Sweetheart and Butterflies amongst others)

Nope. Nice try, but it's shared actors only, not shared termination dates.

We'll keep the Nick Lyndhurst  ----> Dave Learner combo for the next string though.

Cheating, but I'll offer a clue to help everyone start.

Sheard was in Grange Hill as was Todd Carty, who was in Eastenders.

And let'sface it, MILLIONS have appeared in Eastenders. (Well not literally, but y'know...)

Got it.

Sheard was in Grange Hill as was Todd Carty, who was in Eastenders, as is June Brown, who also starred in Doctor Who(The Time Warrior), as did John Woodnutt(Various parts), who also starred in Knightmare, as did Paul Valentine.

Anyway, as I was saying earlier,
Nicholas Lyndhurst ---> David Learner.

[This thread has been scheduled for completion by PUSTULE: the Project for Unearthing Subjects and Typing Up Loose Ends. ;)]

Nicholas Lyndhurst was in Only Fools And Horses...
...as was Roger Lloyd-Pack, who was also in Doctor Who...
...as was David Verrey, who was also in Knightmare...
...as was David Learner.

Please let me know if that's allowable, Billy, since it's partly based on episodes that didn't exist in January 2004. If not, I'll try again, or someone else can...

How about this:

Nicholas Lyndhurst was in Only Fools and Horses, as was...
David Jason, who was in Count Duckula, as was...
Jack May, who was in The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, as was...
David Learner.

Here's another one for Michael Sheard and Paul Valentine:

Michael Sheard was in Grange Hill, as was...
Todd Carty, who was in EastEnders, as is...
Stuart Laing (Rob Minter), who was in Cradle of Fear (very low-buget horror film), as was...
Edmund Dehn, who was in Knightmare, as was...
Paul Valentine.

Sorry, but I like doing this!

Okay.

William Shatner to Zoe Loftin.

William Shatner is in Boston Legal, as is...
Candice Bergen, who's in Merlin and the Sword, with...
Edward Woodward, who was in Gulliver's Travels, along with...
Richard Wilson, who was in Life As We Know It, as was...
Hugo Myatt, who was in Knightmare, along with...
Zoe Loftin.

I thought of a second (longer) way as I was going to sleep:

William Shatner was in Third Rock from the Sun, as was...
Wayne Knight, who was in Jurassic Park, which starred...
Sam Neill, who appeared in Channel 4's Merlin, alongside...
Miranda Richardson, who was in Blackadder II, with...
Simon Jones, who was in The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, which also featured...
Michael Cule, Rayner Bourton and David Learner, who were all in Knightmare, just like...
Zoe Loftin.

This is fun! Any more anyone would like to set?

Technically speaking, seeing you've solved one, you should be setting one for everyone else.

But let's try...

Kate Jackson to Jacquelin Joyce.

Kate Jackson was in Charlie's Angels (the TV series), as was...
John Forsythe (Charlie), who was in Charlie's Angels (the movie), as was...
Crispin Glover, who was in Back to the Future, along with...
Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas F Wilson & Lea Thompson, who where all in BTTF 3 with...
Mary Steenbergen, who was in Gulliver's Travels, with...
Richard Wilson, who was in Life As We Know It, as was...
Hugo Myatt, who was in Knightmare, just like...
Jacquelin Joyce.

Okay, how about Whitney Houston to Samantha Perkins? I have one in mind for this, and it doesn't necessarily have to use Knightmare.

Whitney Houston was in The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner.
Costner was in JFK with Tommy Lee Jones.
Lee Jones was in Stormy Monday with Sean Bean.
Bean was in How To Get A Head In Advertising with Richard Wilson.
Wilson was in Life As We Know It with Hugo Myatt.
Hugo was in Knightmare with Samantha Perkins.

Try Gerard Depardieu to Alec Westwood.
