In which case, there should be a rule against posting simply to denigrate the contributions of another forum user.

If you're that disenchanted with my line, then proffer an alternative.

I was being facetious.

Well the whole point of this thread is for people to come along and have a bit of fun, in fact that is what the whole forum/community is here for. It would be very handy if people could remember this whilst posting in this thread.

Use of additional emoticons to indicate facetiousness might have helped. The written word isn't always that nuanced on its own, especially online. I may not be winked at all that much in real life, but I've never yet seen the winking emoticon overused on the internet.

As for whether a rhyme is obvious, that depends on individual contributors' interpretations. Some may not think it obvious, others may appreciate the guidance. And even with the most strongly implied rhyme, there is still plenty of scope for creativity.

Well, I rather thought Grettel being interwoven into this was ingenious!

So I'll go with it!
And I'm still looking up sambre to be honest!

The maiden they call Mellisandre
Decided that french was Tres Sambre
She filled up a kettle
C'etait trop chaud pour Grettel

So she decided to join a felis-cadre.

N.B To Thanatos:
Pick fault with this or any other person's attempt to involve themselves in the future and you'll have lost yourself one contributor to this thread. This isn't the first time you've interrupted the fun to want stricter guidelines.

There was a fight on the forum

Yes, tempers do fray occasionally. People have something controversial that they can't keep in, they say it, we listen to each other, then we all hopefully move on. So I for one would rather not be forced to dwell on the matter by watching a limerick about it take shape. People could end up getting further offended.

Thus, I'm going to offer enough lines to round off this limerick, and the first line of a new one that we can work together on - a Knightmare-related one. (I say 'offer', because I know it's bending the rules to breaking point, so people are free to ignore my submissions if they feel strongly.)

There once was a fight on the forum
A momentary loss of decorum
We let the dust settle
Returned to fine fettle ;)
And S2 maids? Some still deplore 'em! ;)

New limerick?

(As long as no one minds me contributing another line...)

There once was a Wolfenden welder
Who fancied the elf-maiden Velda
He got hold of a gate
Turned it into a plate
And a ring... but he fled when he smelled 'er!
