My fiancee and I had the idea of using MUGEN to create a Knightmare-themed fighting game. Trouble is neither of us is skilled enough in MUGEN to pull it off. Would anybody be interested in picking up the gauntlet?
For those who don't know, MUGEN is a game engine designed for making 2D fighting games a la Streetfighter Alpha and Samurai Showdown. It's highly customisable and you can download characters and stages from the internet to put in your game, or create your own if you have the know-how.

Any chance of a link for a closer look at this 'Mugen'?
There are but 2 rules in this realm:-
1) He who sees first is the winner...
2) He who is seen first is toast...

M.U.G.E.N... Of all the game engines to use...
Mugen is very difficult to program and requires a lot of effort in order to code indevidual characters,plus the amount of spriting necessary *Shudder*. Plus, how many characters in Knightmare could be easily translated into a fighting game environment?

If MUGEN's too awkward, has anybody got any other ideas for engines? I no longer have access to The Games Factory or Multimedia Fusion.

Re:Knightmare MUGEN
Ok it's obvious a fighting game isn't going to go down well. I thought about making a first-person shooter instead but I don't think it'd really fit into the "feel" of Knightmare. I suppose the best medium for a new Knightmare game would be a text adventure. With that in mind can anyone suggest which freeware authoring software to use?

Funnily enough, I've been browsing some text-adv sites today. I recommend looking on www.ifarchive.org/ for a store of just about anything you need. They also have an FTP site ftp://ftp.ifarchive.org/if-archive/.

Re:Knightmare MUGEN
I actually could imagine a Knightmare combat game. Tre' with his broadsword, Gundrada, the dreaded fright knight, Majida as fast w/magical attacks and that.
But I think Knightmare would work best as an accessible but atmospheric rpg.

I've manage to do a similar one for a convention I go to in the UK "Amecon". Visit hereI'm still working on it but it takes a lot of patience to make all the right sprites to be animated. ^,^;
