A Flying Fox is definitely a type of bat. A fruit bat, if memory serves.

The old fool got that one right, even if he can't remember his own name sometimes. :)

In the country a bat is usually known generally as a flying fox or flying mouse. In our house, however, its either a bat or a fledermaus.

A fledermaus is a variety of field mouse, is it not?

It's a bat. Fledermaus means bat. Fleder = flying, maus = mouse. A flying mouse is a bat.

Yes. Four years of learning it and I can't speak it, but at least I can translate Rammstein lyrics.

Its funny but as soon as I heard that question, I immediatly said it was a Squirrel, and thought it must be right, however it is most definatly a Bat, I checked it out with my dad as well.

Oh Well, you know I think its a shame that when they got to Merlin, they dont get any magic if they get just 1 of the 2 riddles incorrect, I think he should have asked 3 questions, and 2 or more correct would win you magic, IMO it just seemed unfair how it was.

Yep, flying fox is just another name for the fruit bat.  I love it's furry, foxy little face - I think it's one of my favourite animals.  :)
