If Leo had fell in, it would have been the funniest death ever.

Treguard's reaction would have been priceless.

Leo's Riddle

Does anyone know what that gargoyle was going on about when it asked Leo about "the largest ring on English ground"?

Could it possibly be Stonehenge?

Just a guess.

No, the answer wasn't that. The riddle was:

"On Salisbury plane, many years ago, men raised a ring of standing stone. Stonehenge it is called. But where is placed the largest ring on English ground?"

It's got me stumped. I can't quite make out what the answer is when the Gargoyle gives it.

I'm not sure.

The answer the Gargoyle gives sounds like Amesbury, which is where Stonehenge is. Perhaps "Wiltshire" might also have sufficed, if the location of Stonehenge was what the creature was looking for.

That seems likely. Mind you, there was no clue in the riddle that Stonehenge WAS the largest ring on English ground. An odd riddle.

That riddle was a nasty one to ask, I think! I don't think hardly anyone would have know that anwser myself!! :(

Well, I'm 20 and I didn't have a bleedin' clue!

If Leo's team had been given Martin's riddle instead, they would have won, no doubt about it.

I answered this in another thread, I think...

It's "Avebury".  It's a (very!) large stone circle somewhere out the west of Oxfordshire (possibly a bit further, into whatever county you hit when you go out that way).

And yes, I thought it was quite a difficult question, too.  I suppose it was level 3...

edit: for the terminally curious, http://www.avebury-stones.co.uk ;-)

This one was in Level 3.

Definately Level 3. And the Gargoyle had a very cool response to Leo's failure.

"Peril is the reward of ignorance. Walk in peril, Leo..."
