Fantastic, thanks! The audio clip currently on Knightmare.com seems to break up during the gongs, so I was about to ask to see if anyone had a higher quality one from this episode.

The nearest any team ever comes to dying purely from the Clock running out, i.e. not locked in a room, is a team later in this season, and even then it was still a lock-in really, as they were in losing status once again. It's just the puzzle was presented in such a way that it doesn't look like a lock-in.

Won't say any more though for spoiler reasons.

well you could say Mogdred finished them off...
he had just let a team win with out trying to stop them, and couldn't finish off the other team, so he just taking credit but not doing the dirty work!
lol

thats the 2nd lock in we have had,
the one that came close was season one when the team didn't have the candle.

Well teams 4 and 6 from s1 were effectively lock-ins as well.

Good to here an advisor mention the "right-hand door" when deciding where to go.

Liked the Combat Chess - could the team have taken the bishop?

Is this the first time that 2 characters have appeared together without fighting?

Liked the oracle but the should have taken the glove and scroll, without reading it.

"The bridge is on fire!" - or is it the crown?

Treguard said that all contact was deadly, so I reckon that if they had moved into it by accident they would of died (like the series 7 trial by spikes death or the mireman from series 8)
Truth will out. Ah yes. Truth will out and so will you.

Combat chess is very tense stuff, but if you think about it it's more or less inevitable that the dungeoneer will succeed. It's impossible for a player to make checkmate with only a king and a bishop, so how can a player with only a bishop capture a piece that has the knight's move?

If you happen to touch the bishop, you die straight away - Life Force Death. I suppose the bishop could either land on a square that the dungeoneer was already on, or the dungeoneer could mess up and walk into the bishop while making their move.

Has any team died while playing Combat Chess?

I was 8 or 9 when this first aired and even though I knew John Woodnutt was Merlin as well as Mogdred, he terrified me to death! The playpen speech still scared me today!
