Finally worked out where that room is - in fact it's the same place where Gundrada was sometimes found, with the waterfall in the corner (the old mill at Leeds Castle). They've edited the crap out of it so it's almost unrecognisable - the waterfall has been removed, for starters - but if you look reeeeeally closely, you can still make out bits of the walls. So that explains why they needed to give it a weird CGI floor!

As for the remaining mystery of that series:

It's hard to be sure, but I suspect it's the side entrance to Castle Rising (aka the Castle of Doom), with the grass removed and an extra wall added on the right-hand side. Looks pretty similar.

Interesting. Did the Knightmare crew take a wee trip up to bonny Scotland around the summer of '93? Or did they just buy a photo of it? That's Eilean Donan Castle in the promo shots of Treguard & Majida, Treguard and Raptor.

If they did go all the way to the Highlands, it's a fairly safe bet they will have filmed something else while they were up there. Grimdale, perhaps...?

I'm not sure which castles are in the background of the Lissard and Romahna promo pics. If they can be identified, it may help me figure out the remaining Series 7 filming locations.

Adding another location to the list... I've just seen the end credits of Series 4 episode 11 for the first time, featuring an Eyeshield sequence not used in any quests. I guessed immediately where it was, as Leigh Grey mentioned it as a possible filming location when he was helping me to identify places last year! It's West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village in Suffolk.

I'm also now wondering where the end credits of Series 4 episode 12 were filmed? It looks like some sort of face carved out of stone or wood, with water running down one side. Weird. Any ideas?

While I'm giving this thread a bump, there are still a bunch of other Knightmare locations that haven't been identified (much to my frustration), so please let me know if you recognise them or have any suggestions as to where they might be!

~ Level 3 clue room in Series 6. I don't even know if it's a ruined castle or an abbey or what. You see more during the Eyeshield sequence at 0:43 in this clip.

~ Timber-framed Level 1 clue room in Series 6.

~ Nemanor's ship in Series 6:

http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... ingrod.jpg
Again, this clip includes a related Eyeshield sequence at 4:09.

~ Castle in Series 7 where a troll blocked the path. Likely to be in Spain.

~ Series 7 tavern visited in Barry's quest. Again, probably in Spain.

~ Grimdale in Series 7:

http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... mdale2.jpg
http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... mdale5.jpg

~ The stained glass window from Series 2 and 3:
http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... level3.jpg
(The room is of course a painting but I believe this to be a real window, perhaps from the Norfolk area?)

~ The boating lake from Series 5 and 6:
http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... helake.jpg
http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... elake2.jpg
http://www.knightmare.com/images/storie ... /lake2.jpg
Very hard to identify this, as one lake looks much like another. An Eyeshield sequence (at 4:50 in this clip) shows the wooden jetty and a walk through trees towards a park bench.

~ Coastal flight sequences shown during the end credits of Series 5 episode 3, Series 6 episode 2, and Series 6 episode 3. The first one features a distinctively shaped headland which someone might recognise.

~ Foresty scene in Series 6 with a huge tree branch overhanging the path.

Ahaaaaaa, finally.... the castle in the Lissard promo shot is Peñaranda Castle, which is also where the troll bestrode the path of Alex and Naila, although it looks a little different now!

That's filming location number 39. :)

Canadanne - Jake and I can solve that mystery for you. The stone face is taken from Leeds Castle. There is a maze and in the middle of the maze is an underground grotto, where you can find that face. Here is a photo I took on our visit to the castle yesterday:

I DON'T believe it. You have no idea how much time I've spent searching through pictures of Spanish churches and things, trying to identify this damn tavern from Barry's quest. I was looking for it again yesterday and getting nowhere as usual. Later that evening I just happen to be watching Dickon's quest for the first time in ages, and what do I spot during the final Eyeshield sequence? You guessed it - the elusive tavern!!! It's the chapel in Orford Castle, not one of the Spanish locations at all! There's been a screencap on KM.com the whole time, which I even used in a Lexicon entry without noticing it was the same room in reverse. If I hadn't been studying the Series 7 scene just hours before watching this episode, I probably still wouldn't have recognised it!

Thank god I can finally stop wondering about this one.

I had pretty much given up trying to identify this as I didn't think I'd ever work it out, but I was watching an episode last night and just happened to notice a familiar pattern on the wall! It's based on the clue room with the wooden staircase, from Bodiam Castle. The causeway exit is not actually a doorway but part of the balcony structure.

Wolfenden on Most Haunted this week

Post by Drassil »

Weald & Downland Open Air Museum a.k.a. Wolfenden will be the subject of Most Haunted this Thursday and Friday (14th and 15th March) on Pick TV at 6pm. The episodes (9-10 of Series 14) appear to be on YouTube if you can't wait that long. ;)

I just replied to the above but couldn't post and said I had to log-in, but already was, and lost all my work ? >:(

Tried to say, we've been to Leeds Castle a few times, only a few hours drive away, and been to the grotto and maze, and it really is a great experience. Hope to go back again, but the Leeds Castle estate is only open a few months a year or seasonal. I wasn't aware it had been used in the show.

The woodland and castle scenes were maybe my favourite bits of Knightmare as you had some great and scary characters, such as the pookas would make an appearance. I hope it is back on TV again sometime soon, as it's been such a long time since I saw a whole episode.

Thank you for sharing your photo's Annie! You took loads of great shots and I liked the way you compared them to various scenes from Knightmare! It's hard to pick out a favourite!
