I understand your comments Stormy, but i think a compromise can be met! hehe - I always thought that riddles should have been included in later quests, so as dungeoneers had to work out the items needed from clue rooms - have for example, food, gold, silver, lantern, etc - about 5 options after food. One item would be relatively straightforward, with a bit of a hint, but the important one based on a riddle, and make them really think - have two connected in one way, but one is right? Also, the music was excellently done in the lower levels later on, but i admit, when you KNEW they would survive it got annoying, like with Sofia/Elita/Skarkill. Also, items became too obvious because of the spyglasses.

Hi there, about Knightmare sounds...

Post by SpinDizzy »

Just wondered if anyone can tell me where to get certain sound samples from Knightmare.

I don't have the equipment to somehow transfer an episode from a recorded tape onto the computer, and also I remember seeing somone say you're not allowed to transfer them over the internet, something to do with Challenge tv not liking it, and monitoring these boards.

Anyway here was what I was after...

Any of the ambience

Goblin horn

Blade saw noise, from the corridor of blades

Teleport sound, from when someone walks through a door, not the whistleing type noise from the earlier series, the one from the later ones.

I was also after echoing footsteps but I managed to make a loop myself. :)

Well since it's my first post I'll just add a little about me, My favourite series is 7.
Watched some of the episodes from series 8, couldn't remember anything of them, but thought level 1 was horridly boring, and didn't like the food icon at all.

My favourite things are watching Lord Fear banter on about anything, and laughing at Treguards clever sarcasm.

Level 3 had some interesting graphics, almost impressive, and since the time that Knightmare died leaps and bounds were made in computer graphics then on, God only knows what it would look like if it was still around now. :)

Recently cancelled sky Subscription, so I won't find out if the current team finish level 3, oh well. :(

Noted... :)

Unfortunatley, a processed 'lift' is never going to compete with the original sample.

A lot of the sound effects are Broadsword 'Stock' footage/sound and can be bought at most specialist retailers (even Virgin and HMV have been known to have sound FX cd's, some of which can be quite good).

However, trying to track down 'Signature' sounds, the distinctive goblin horns for example, is going to be a lot more difficult...

Kieran, not wanting to pester the man, can TC help out with these more 'hard-to-find' samples??
There are but 2 rules in this realm:-
1) He who sees first is the winner...
2) He who is seen first is toast...
