It's been a week since there was any further discussion on this.

Can we perhaps have someone to mastermind such a meet up, to poll the community, find out what, when, and where would be best and then to organise something?

Ok let's get the ball rolling on this then.

How about a trip to Thorpe Park on dates loosely around Halloween? It is a place we have visited in the past and seems to remain a fairly popular destination.

If people could give feed back on that as the basic idea, we can build on the dates and perhaps organise a non-park day for the same weekend.

edit: I may as well throw in Alton Towers in there, as an alternate choice. That has also been popular in previous years.

Sounds good to me.
As mentioned previously, I would recommend making it a full-weekend event.

Thorpe Park is a bit of a sore point for me - I'll happily join in on other activities, but if I want to part with the best part of 30 quid to sit around and watch other people have fun, then the men in white coats might as well take me now.

*nods* Ok I get that.

My interest here is trying to find an 'alternate attraction' day, one which is away from the Park. So far Alton Towers seems the better option for that.

The Peaks are nearby and have many areas for accommodation. If we were to stay in an area such as that, then it opens up the possibility of a role playing event with organised games. It has kinda been done before for a Murder Mystery night.

That sounds promising, plus with it being out of season, accommodation for the weekend would most likely be more reasonable.

It will also be quite chilly, mind you... so wrap up :)

It's a grand time of the year on the accommodation front. I know various places in the area which would be perfect for location and for gaming activities.

Hallowe'en is on the Friday that week. (I'm going to see Knightmare Live just three days earlier, so that'd keep the week consistent, I suppose.) So what would we be looking at, Friday 31st to Sunday 2nd?

I am not sure, but me being me, I'd probably make my way home on the Monday, TFL is abysmal at best on the weekends...

The Scarefest at Alton Towers runs between 18th October and 2nd November this year.

If people are particularly interested in doing that, then we have 3 weekends right there to aim for. I do think the actual Halloween weekend itself will be the busiest.

I can't do park rides for various reasons, but a Murder Mystery idea sounds great. This would also be good if there's a train station nearby to the area for those of us without cars :)

We did a murder mystery a few years back.
It was very good, but it was expensive and very few people came.

With social media being more prevalent and readily available, it'll be much more easier to reach more people, more quickly and raise awareness.

I didn't know about that event, but I am sure if other people in the community knew, the attendance would have been higher :P

The murder mystery I am referring to was one done entirely within the hostel we once stayed at.

I'll do a post shortly in regards to what the weekend could look like.
