Reach Wand

Post by djoska »

What a load of *pigeon droppings*!!!!!

Gets me angry it does- The guy behind the mouse pointer needs to get sacked!!!!!!

It does not correspond to the direction of the wand!
Not at all!!!!

Ruined series 8 for me!

I agree, I reckon it added a level of artificialness (So I just made that word up..) that was not required. Getting them to touch the symbols in order by hand would be hard enough :p

I feel the wand itself would have been a great deal better if the curser had actually matched the dungeoneer's movements. Nice idea, but perhaps a little too far ahead of its time.

not ahead of it's time- how about a waste of time??!

7 series (better ones) before managed without one- why can't this???

If I was a dungeoneer, I'd trade the wand for something better- Sly hands could even have that bit of tat!!!

Bit harsh there I think Mykell. The Eye sheild may be controvershail but compering it the saem class as thr reeach wand is going a bit far I feel. :)

The wand was bad though. As Kiren said though if the graphics had been a bit better it might have been liveabale.

Eyeshield?- nice pretty videos to watch!!!

Reach wand?- frustrating to watch!!!!!

It's laziness- why can't the dungeoneer use proper magic???

I didn't mind the eyeshield occasionally but in series 5- they used it wayyyyyy to much!

And they didn't even have to exit the room and the clip would play.

Who would walk that slow???

...but the occasional bit of eyeshield is nice.
especially when a pooka appears for a second!

Hello everyone. Just thought I'd post something seeing as I haven't posted in a while.

Hmm. Reach Wand.

I have mixed feelings about this.

I think it was an amazing idea, and it helped modernise Knightmare a bit. Not a bad thing.

However, most of the time the curser operator wasn't in sync with the Dungeoneer.

That was a great shame, as it really could have been a good idea.

I wouldn't say it ruined series 8 for me, but it did make me shout at the TV a few times...

The reach wand should have been one of them items you pick up and use once.
it doesnt seem to get used much.

The light inside it is a bit dull and tacky.
Treguard's like "here you go little kidsie- here's a light up toy to wave about when they tell ya!"

Not me fave piece of knightmare but it's only opinion.

If there was a particular problem with the Eye Shield, it was during some of the sequences in series 8. If I remember rightly, the Sewers of Goth was a particular offender. It would feature a jerky walking sequence followed by a v..e..r..y... s..l..o..w... t..u..r..n... r..i..g..h..t...

Unrealistic. It looked like Doom played on a computer that was far too slow to handle it.

also, smirkies newer flight sequence was a complete dissapointment-
It started flying over the sea, next shot- a hexagonal mountain range that has a 12FPS rate and a dragon with about the standard FPS.

And he never landed in Sync!!!!

The real fly seqs were much better!!

personally i thought the reach wand was making it easier for dungeoneers. In the earlier series they would have used a spell or password which they got from someone, but using the reach wand was a bit pointless. as for the eye shield,i think it was overused too much but i think it was worse for series 4, the first series it was used in! and Tregaurd wound me up a little by constantly telling the teams to "look into the eyeshield "every 30 secs. lol

Also- the stupid advisors tried directing the dungeoneer whilst the video clip was playing!!

What, did they think Anglia Studios had it's own forest and Open Air Museum just outside the studio???

That's what annoyed me, combined with it's walking speed!!!

but the reach wand- pure LAZINESS!!!!

The reach wand isn't too bad but sometimes slowed the quest down when the dungeoneer kept moving it up and down and all around...

Reach was fine, a good innovation. In fact, the Reach for Runes puzzles were very tense, especially with Troll footsteps in the background and so forth.

I think most people dislike Reach because its target was so clearly a mouse pointer. If there is more Knightmare, Reach's inclusion would be improved with updated CGI effects to make it more like a laser gun (if that makes sense).
