My best friend from primary school and I used to play something we imaginatively titled 'The Knightmare Game' in the Christmas term when it had started up on TV again. It was more like the stories from Labyrinths of Fear, Fortress of Assassins and so on than the actual show and we pretended to be the fearless adventurers in strange lands, meeting a good few Knightmare characters along the way - you get the picture.
Actually, it became 'The Crystal Maze Game' in the summer term when that was on TV, substituting Treguard with Richard o' Brien, so I suppose it was a generic kind of fantasy game you play when you're young.

So what happened when ETP became the presenter then? In the summer did you subtitute Richard with him then? If so did you get any cosmic handshakes?

Although I haven't done it recently, I used to do a lot of stand-up comedy. Once, during my set, I mentioned Knightmare and suddenly, every member of the audience decided to give a personal recollection of the series including how they used to play it. Nice, but when you've only got ten minutes...!
Oh look there's J.G. Ballard in a burnt-out fridge with a spitfire pilot.

My own Knightmare

Post by Raven »

What

A

Laugh

It was quite violent though.

We blindfolded a friend, dressed up in rented costumes, filmed him and his three guides. it worked really well, no special effects though. The thing is if they did stray from the path they would fall several feet into a sand pit, as one of us did. Anger a knight - you get literally beaten up.

I know it sounds painful and sadistic but hey! it makes it seem like your on a real quest :)

Substitute items such as the ACME Hammer (series 6) for a real hammer or mallet. I hope you didn't try to recreate a version of the corridor of blades. ::)

Sounds fun. Did something like that about ten years ago, the kitchen table had the clue objects on and people were used as obstacles ;D

The fun of re-enacting KM never dies, however old you get, does it? :)

Fidjit, yours looks really good, I look forward to seeing it in action. Ours is not on such a large scale. Anyway we are filming another series and will attempt to put the clips on the net. We are even going to have our own eye shield.

Great stuff, maybe we can start a huge RPG website, ALL OF US and we can each do our own projects! Maybe we could even try remaking the old series of Knightmare...
