Series 8 Episode 9

Discuss!

I liked here how the dungeoneer called 'Stilleto' instead of 'Stilleta' ;). Also, did you notice the dungeoneer take the eye-shield off his arm when they took the food? You could see it lying on the floor!

Interesting, charging the Reach wand with a REVEAL spell - rather than giving it to spellcast. Seems like they already knew where the door would be - did someone tell them? I think a spell or potion that just revealed the door would have been better?
And what about that 'throwing your body' to the left and right in the CoB? I assume this is where the out-take comes from where the dungeoneer runs into the side of the corridor ;)

We see a Mire-Trog chasing the dungeoneer today. Looks like an ordinary guy-dressed-as-troll has been filmed and then squashed vertically (or stretched horizontally).

The dungeoneer couldn't read the word on the bottle "Paladin" or something... so he spelled it out ;D. Nice close-up of a Mireman in the spy-glass scene as well. I think they've taken the right items - the scroll gave them the clue. Be quick and be quiet. So you don't want a noisy horn!

I like how the dungeoneer has to kneel for Maldame before she'll actually talk to them!

They tried to use the Paladin potion twice in this episode - once on the trapdoor and again on Snapperjack - even though Treguard said that magic doesn't work on him! Speaking of which, they went on to get 3/3 correct on Snapperjack's riddles "This one's too smart for Jack, we go for easier pickings!".

Timed out today in the room with the fireballs hitting the floor. "Careful team, this room is one big trap" *time-out*.

And now, the end is near...(in the chronological sense, anyway)

A decent episode, with another little bit of muppetry (in the fireball alley this time) involving direction changes. Still, I didn't see any cause for concern in the Corridor of Blades...they got through it ok in my book.

Treguard describing a Miretrog- didn't he look forlorn, nonchantly describing it? It was like a dungeoneer had died. Maybe he'd just been told Knightmare wasn't returning.

Still, Majida got into the spirit of the again, getting excited (again).

Nice blue cloth trick with Stilleta in level 1. Shame that you could see the outline of her body due to the edge of the cloth. Funny how Dunston kept talking in the wrong direction to where the person was repeatedly.

Majida: Did I get it right this time
Treguard: Give or take a few intreging variations on the English language yes.

Scroll: "Welcome to level 3. Be quick and be quiet"
Dungeoneer shouts "What's that noise?

I take it that Stiletta was hiding under a blue sheet rather than a cloak of invisability. I've never heard anyone say that it was unfortunate that you could see the outline of Stiletta's body before! Glad she got her knife back - even if it was 8 episodes late.

If she has no time for Motely why did she go on a quest with him? He may be a comedian, but he seems to be no gentleman (but then he's not all that funny either)

I think the outtake is from another team (going by shirt colour but I'm not sure) Was the Corridor of Blades slower than usual?

I remember this episode more vividly than any other, despite the fact that it was 10 years ago and I was only 7 years old at the time. I remeber both the shortcut and Treguard saying that magic dosen't work on Snapper Jack before the team tried to use it anyway. They seem keen to uncork the bottle despite the fact that the don't seem to know what it is.

Also did anyone catch the Challenge announcer at the end take the p*ss out of Majida and her voice. Hmmm I think certain members ie. H-Storm may want to protect her from being mocked.

To be fair though and I like Majida, but right at the end she did sound like she has inhailed Helium.

Her voice was deffinatly higher then it was befor hand.

If you're referring to the 'evil old cow' comment then yes he did! Much amusement!

I'm not sure I like this team...they seem to be talking over everything the characters are saying all the time...for example when the dungeoneer was talking to Maldame...who I'm sure one of the advisors refered to as maldema...or was that just me??

I thought the 'Cloak of Invisibility' effect worked pretty well, actually. And looking at the CoB sequence, it doesn't look like they were hit at all...then again, it didn't look like Barry was hit either, so it could be just me. The bit where Treguard describes a Miretrog sounds like it was slotted in after the recording, as the team don't seem to notice him, and it didn't look like anyone else was in the room when he said it. Still, they're in Level 3 now, with nothing seemingly stopping them!

No he wasn't hit by a blade as far as I could see. If you're talking in reference to what Tom said, their is an outtake on the 'Slowhand' clip where a dungeoneer is in the CoB and when they are going from side to side, they appear to go right through the wall such as on this picture:

If you haven't already watched it heres the 'Slowhand' clip, worth watching http://infosite.talkknightmare.co.uk/cl ... lowhand.rm and also if you haven't already done so look at this http://knightmare.com/behind/slowhand/index.htm

The Corridor of Blades as the shortcut has never bothered me - arguably it is the show's toughest (or certainly scariest) challenge, and if you can get through it, you deserve to go on to greater things.

Another point about the shortcut is that it arguably first appeared in series 5 -

SPOILER ALERT

- after Duncan exited the descender at the wrong level.

You could actually argue that it first appeared at the end of season 2, when the Wheel Of Fate had entrances to level 2 in it.

I don't think the Corridor in season 5 was the shortcut. Had the dungeoneer avoided the blades, would he have wound up in level 3? I doubt it. I mean, surely it would have been better for him than choosing the right exit?

A shortcut in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it should have been made harder to find, and tougher to beat. Maybe a prolonged corridor, or perhaps that swinging axe chamber from one of the credits in season 4? As it was, Dunstan was taking exactly the same puzzle most of the other dungeoneers took.

Dunston basically got a free pass. I can definately see the teams getting worse as the series prgoressed, (so much screaming and not paying attention to obvious cues) but giving them the quest on a plate was unfair to previous teams.
