Point Raised on Take Two

Series, Teams, History, Behind the scenes etc. - all discussed here.

Would you prefer a cash prize or a trophy, or some other gift like a TV, for winning Knightmare?

Point Raised on Take Two

Post by Raven »

On Take Two, a child (greedy brat) says he would much prefer a cash prize. I personally think he is mad to suggest such a thing. When the money is spent, that is it. Gone.
Also, virtually everyone has money. If I had a trophy for winning Knightmare, I couldn't imagine how proud I'd be. Getting onto the program alone must be difficult, and nobody else would have a Knightmare trophy (apart from your three team mates and other winners).
So what do you think?

Well he also explained that due to rules on how much money could be given to children the prize money would have looked pathetic.

Also a symbol or Icon such as the Silverspurs or FrightKnight are much more unique and that is more valuable than a cash prize or 'Generic' prize in my opinion.

You want money GET A JOB! ;)

A trpohy is a tiny bit more rare than a generic cash prize, i'd be a little displeased to see money/material prizes entering the game.

The trophy was a symbol of victory, nothing something that can be replaced either.

Cash gets spent so it doesn't remind you of your success, a TV is or a computer is nice but nothing special, but a trophy for a specific show is something speical and a real momento.

It has to be a trophy because winning Knightmare was something special indeed and even making it onto Knightmare was special.

The French and Spanish versions were easier and with one quest per episode with most teams winning. For this reason I think it was probably more appropriate for them to recieve material gifts rather than a trophy.

He's forgetting one thing that Hordriss once said,

"...a small reward perhaps, but then you have what few have achieved... The FAME!"

The voting is over. The result is that the most popular prize was indeed the trophy. All those voted cash, get a job, not as fun as Knightmare but you'd earn more.

If I could just say that if it did happen, that after the loseing loses the team would get a certifcate to say that they've been on Knightmare and well done on how far they got when the winning team gets a certifcate and a trophy.

Imagine if they'd have won a gift such a a tv or computer. The gift would be obsolite now. How long do computers last before they need upgrading? With a trophy, you put it in a display/trophy cabinet for all to see and you talk about the achievement of it. It's exactly what it symbolises, the achievement.

no, no no, no. no!

if you'd won knightmare, huge bothered hat about a trophy!
surely the kudos would be worth enough alone! you don't need a trophy to prove your greatness!
whereas... think how much cash 50p was as a child. you could buy a beano anda tiny toon stickers pack. A cash prize; whatever the rules might have stipulated, would've been huge; you could probably have completed Pog Series 1 or something...

the sheer fact of winning knighmare is enough reward on it's own; being amongst only 8 teams to have triumphed against the best the dungeons can throw against you is immense whether you have a trophy or not... I'd take the cash.

Well looked at that way, they might just as well not bother with a prize at all.

Trophy all the way for me. There's nothing special in money, you can get that anywhere and in any amount depending on luck and application. But winning the spurs or the Frightknight trophy was rare, there was only one way to win it. And it was a mighty achievement (in the same way I doubt that a World Cup winner would turn down the trophy for a cash substitute).

a world cup winner would have loads of cash anyway

my point was when I was a kid I got 30p a week pocket money so a £20 prize would have been amazing

if I'd have won, looking back on it now I wouldn't care about having a trophy; I'd just be dead chuffed I'd won.
a trophy has no value: it's not as if you'd sell it anyway.
