Re: Challenge TV vs Brangwen!

Not to mention the button in the Futuristic zone which no-one was to press under any circumstances.  Ed says, 'Team, you must NOT ... Press ... this ... button,' while repeatedly pressing it as hard as he can. Another annoying trait was the way he insisted on standing with his legs open as wide as p...

Re: That damned life force....

I take the point that the lifeforce only seemed to be timed realistically during series 3-5.  The skull had 21 pieces coming off it and when it was slowed down, progress could be monitored easily in dwarf tunnels for example.  I think the man only had 15 pieces falling off it before it crumpled into...

Re: Challenge Response

Well, it's not too surprising that no-one really knew about KM being shown on Challenge?  I recall that the adverts for the Xmas schedule consisted of a reel of old and popular game programmes.  Although it lasted about a minute, KM's advertising exposure consisted of flashing the famous logo on the...

Re: The glory of Series 3

Glad so many people think series 3 is the best and I agree on these counts: 1.  No time wastage with spy-glasses and banter between Treguard and his assistants. 2. Less forgiving gameplay (failure to get something right was fatal rather than the 'well, lets let the kidsies off until they reach level...

Can't actually say I've heard too many medieval air-raid sirens though. ;D

Re: Challenge TV vs Brangwen!

Yeah, especially in series 3 and 4, Richard seemed to be thinking 'Oh my god, what a thick bunch of people I have around me' most of the time.  It seemed inevitable really that he would give it up sooner or later but his replacement would always have too big an act to follow and try as Ed did (and b...

Re: Knightmare Challenge!

Well, after an hour's play, I've made it to level 3 at last.  Thanks for creating such a great challenge Ali.

Re: Pronunciation.

Yes, he was highly charasmatic as Treguard, especially in the earlier series.  One of the sound clips from this site is of Hugo announcing a competition to design a room in an early series.  Listen to him saying 'Imagine if you will' and notice how it booms noticeably louder than any other words.

Re: Challenge TV vs Brangwen!

Never thought I'd see anyone who preferred Ed.  The fact that the Crystal Maze had 4 successful series with Reckless Rick and only 2 more less successful series after he left speaks volumes.  In the end, most people watched the Crystal Maze for Richard O'Brien.  Switching to Ed is like having someon...

Re: That damned life force....

Obviously I phrased that last post pretty badly. No I don't get a 'kick' out of the lifeforce sequence.  If it was a real skull discintegrating I wouldn't find it cool at all, it would be purely sickening. The fact is that the creators must have put an awful lot of thought into the creation of the s...

Re: Knightmare Challenge!

Wow, that is excellent.  A really challenging adventure.  I've had one attempt and didn't make it to level 2.  It's good that this site has just enough still pictures of the lifeforce to make this adventure work perfectly :D.  I too like the way that you can die easily by making a mistake.  I got a ...

Re: That damned life force....

Why is everyone so scared about the lifeforce sequence from series 1-5?  It was FASCINATING!!  I was only 6 when I first saw it and it never scared me.  In fact, when I was watching some of my old recordings as I was growing up, I sometimes deliberately watched an episode or a sequence with a lifefo...

Yep, if something electrical isn't working to it's full potential, there's nothing better to put it back into action than a good, hard whack ;D.  Incidently, hope you get them to work dragonfollower.

As I register my vote for our favourite program, Knightmare has 93 votes compared to 77 from the Mysterious Cities of Gold (whatever that is ;)).  Looking good!!

Re: Red Gem

Or as Ah Wok would say 'A gleen dlagon meent'. Anyway, most of the time the red gem was the blood stone which only led to blood shed (although not a garden shed made of blood as I thought in my mis-spent youth (I was 7) ;D) ).  Shame no dungeoneer ever took the stone either, I really wanted to see t...
