Series 4 consisted of a total of 8 teams across 16 episodes.

Team 1: Helen, James, Rachel and Craig from Sunderland

Team 1's quest was for the Cup and lasted 43 minutes.

Before the quest began, Treguard discovered that Pickle had tried to sneak food into Helen's knapsack.

Level 1

Dooris the Weeping Door: Scored 3.

Accepted challenge from Hordriss to retrieve a brass bracelet.

Oakley: Scored 2.

Used gold to bribe Fatilla the guard.

 

Used a dagger against the wellway guard.

Level 2

Met Gundrada.

Released Merlin from the stocks and earned advice.

Survived the Block and Tackle.

Met Doorkis the Weeping Door / door monster.

Earned FREEZE spell from Brother Mace in Dunkley Wood.

Used spell to freeze Ariadne in her lair.

At the Dunswater, they met the Boatman and gave him silver and gold as the fare for their crossing.

On the other side, they entered a keep and went down a flight of stairs.

Level 3

Found bracelet and summoned Hordriss to give it to him. Earned two spells: TRANSFORMATION and BUT.

Met Mogdred at a bridge, who asks them to pledge to him.

 [Related Image]

They don't. Mogdred sets the bridge crumbling, so they dash and survive.

As a result, Mogdred decided to end their quest with a magic sword. With seconds left, they decide to cast TRANSFORMATION...

Death

...but never complete the spell. The magic was too long (they should have used BUT).

Team 2: Alistair, Harry, Martin and James from Woodbridge

Team 2's quest was for the Shield and lasted 50 minutes.

Level 1
 

Very nearly fell off the ledge in the Place of Choice. In fact, his right foot actually touched the studio floor! (You could hear this.) Were they let off? Probably!

They accept a task from Malice to retrieve a green gem for her.

Oakley: Scored 3.

 

Met Fatilla the hun on guard at the Castle of Doom. Used flattery to get past him.

Used aniseed from Oakley's glen to throw pursuing goblins off Alistair's scent.

Encountered an assassin at the wellway and were advised to scare it away.

Alastair: "Begone, assassin ... GO AWAY!"

Level 2

Released Gundrada, who was stuck in the pillory. She accompanies Alistair.

They meet Hordriss, who gives them each a self-activating spell. Gundrada's is ADORE and makes Fatilla fall in love with her. Alistair's, SLOW, locks the pair in extreme slow motion and he continues his quest.

Bought a red slipper (said to belong to the god Mercury) with an enclosed spell from Merlin in return for gold.

Used the RUN spell to escape from Ariadne's Lair.

Met the Boatman at the Dunswater and were given passage to Level 3 in the usual way.

Level 3

Found the green gem and summoned Malice.

Malice: "You have the best of it, though. The name of the spell I gift you is HERO."

Completed the Transporter Pads puzzle.

Death
 

Alistair's quest ends in the new Corridor of Blades:

Treguard: "I suppose that's a slice of life... You were sharp enough team, but so was the dungeon."

 

Team 3: Nicky, Corrina, Emma and Katharine from St. Albans

Team 3's quest was for the crown and lasted 36 minutes.

Level 1

Accepted a challenge from Hordriss to retrieve the Dagger of Darkness.

Found Brother Mace having lunch with an assassin! The monk referred to him as "Brother Silence" and fashioned a "silencer" to knock him out.

Escorted by Mace to Oakley's glen. Left with a jar labelled SMALL and a gold bar.

Used SMALL to shrink Nicky to fit through a tiny door, and then met Motley who helped reverse the spell with Grow-Me-Quick powder.

At the ruins of Dungarth, bribed Fatilla using gold they picked up from Oakley.

Level 2

Mellisandre was stuck in the stocks. Team gave Mellisandre a rope to help her get back to Level 1, but unusually got nothing in return.

Successfully negotiated the Block and Tackle.

Found Merlin stuck in the stocks and released him. Did not earn any magic from Merlin, however, because they didn't answer his riddle correctly.

 

Ceiling started lowering in the Doorkis drawbridge room. This only happened once this series.

Death

In Ariadne's Lair, as they didn't have Merlin's magic for survival.

Team 4: Simon, Andrew, Richard and Andrew from Swansea

Team 4's quest was for the sword and lasted 26 minutes.

Level 1

In the eyeshield room, what looked like a witch was actually Malice in disguise. She sets a task for Simon to collect a leather-bound book and earn magic in return.

Fatilla was about to kill them in the forest, but then Pickle - yes, Pickle - appears in the game, saying that Simon was actually a 'military forager' and that he has been sent by his army to hunt for food.

Fatilla becomes friendly and takes Simon on to the next clearing, while Treguard gets rather angry at Pickle for interfering with the adventure. Oakley scares Fatilla away, and gives the team some hints about the clue objects. Also saw an old-style pooka. Took horn and hourglass and blew the horn when they met some goblins.

Wellway was guarded by a giant lizard, so they used the hourglass to freeze it.

 
Level 2

Gundrada was stuck in the stocks and demanded water. Once freed, she accompanied Simon in the hope that he could help retrieve her sword, which had been confiscated.

Hordriss was sitting at the entrance to the moving Corridor of Blades, and questioned Simon on the name of the sword he was after.

 

Gundrada tried to keep out of sight, forming letters (SLASH) to help the team.

Took the sword from Hordriss.

Earned a joker card from Brother Mace.

Death

In the Block and Tackle, Simon was guided straight into a pit! There was a large gap on the left of the dungeoneer, and one of the advisors told him to "sidestep to your left"!
