Missing room from series 4

Post by Wolfshead » Mon May 31, 2004 9:32 pm

Remember the swinging axe-like thing on the end credits of the first episode of series 4 that was supposed to be too tough which is why it was taken out?

Why did the French decide to use it in Chivallier du Labarynthe?

Also would anyone here prefere to have seen it use in series 4 and would it go in level 2 or 3?

Well, in the French version of Km, if the Dungeoneer died, he/she was replaced by one of the advisors. This meant that every team had effectively three lives. This would justify a harder obstacle like the axe room.

From the look of the room, I'm guessing that it would have been in Level Three.

I have a suspicion that the swinging axe chamber was a precursor/prototype for the Corridor of Blades. Similar concept, if even less fair.

Which swinging-axe thing? The one with the axe-skeleton over the bridge in the Vale of Escargot?

As the credits went up at the end of series 4 episode 1 the background image displayed a jagged twisting path leading diagonally to the door across a chasm. Hanging down from the ceiling in the middle of the room is a huge ax which is swinging around in a circular motion. This room never appeared during a quest on the english Knightmare but apparently appeared on the French version. There's a picture of this room somewhere on the site I believe...

It's shown on knightmare.com in the series 4 section, towards the bottom of the main page.

There was also another one (a causeway) shown at the end of series 5 that I don't believe was ever used.

No, that was never used. As I said on this board in November 2003, it looks like an overgrown version of Bingo!

The swinging axe looks a little unworkable to me, it just moves too fast for anyone to be able to get to the other side.

Would have been a very very cruel final room of Level 3 though.... 8)

I'd loved to have seen it in level 3

Here's a thought it's tough but what about a spell to get through it, what would be a good spell to use?

I guess if it has been included, the team could have got a Freeze or Speed spell on the way to temporary freeze/slow down the axe so they could get through, However the spell could last for only a short time to build up suspense.

I'm sure the reason stated above is why it was not included, I think it would have bee to hard of a puzzle to put in a game, and it would be judged highly unfair for the team, It would have still been cool to see in the game though

Maybe it was just a show off to what could have been used.the axe chamber would have been cool as i find the obstacles (except ariadne) quite poorly devised oh and block and tackle .The axe one drfinately level 3!!!!!!

Having viewed the end credits of the episode in question and viewed the "lost" room I have deduced that perhaps it would not have been quite as difficult as it initially looks. The main difficulty would have been to successfully navigate that long and twisty causeway that leads to the exit and once the dungeoneer had reached the swinging axe, he/she could just crouch down or, if needs be, crawl on their bellies. You'll notice the axe doesn't quite reach the floor when it swings and the dungeoneer could have made use of the limited space to make their escape.
